looking back on it all i'm beginning to think that it may have started from a transmetal based technology. for example the character of scourge in transformers cybertron. his character has a large transmetal like look to it.

 

the protoform upgrade may have been reverse engineered from this or quite possibly it could be an optimal blend of the transmetal, powermaster, micromaster and pretender technologies

 

perhaps unintentionally they are taking the mythos into the beginnings of the protoform upgrade when it comes to cybertron and any series beyond it.

I'd comment but I dont know what the heck you're talking about? When you say Protoform upgrade, I get lost.

it played a very central part in the conversion from autobots to maximals and decepticon to predicons. it caused both sides to downsize as it were with the autobots and decepticons being the ancestors ofthe maximals and the predicons.

well youve asumed the cybertron has the same evolution of G1 when its hasnt since scourge is far from small and their is also a planet of just gaints.

 

IMO its down to fuel. Older bigger bodys cost alot to maintane and run so they came up with the micromasters and a 1st try at fuel effeicant bodys. Then around the time of head masters they not only had beast modes but smaller bodys aswell. So at some time between the end of G1 and the start of BW (about a few 100 years) they got to that point when the larger bodys just wernt up to the job and smaller bodys could do just as well so a sorta change over began i think arcee in thw wreckers comic did such a thing (keep in mind ive only seen them once a few months ago so i might be wrong)

If you're trying to say that, since Amada, Transformers has been borrowing old school Ideas, You're correct.

Minicons are Micromasters with Powermasters, targetmasters and Headmasters abilities. The Primes have been using God Ginrai technology(ie, another bot becoming an upgrade for him). Scorponok is like a Transmetal(ie he's a mechanical scorpion that has a third flight mode). Chromia/Thunderblast transforms like a pretender meaning, Under her boat shell she's basically already a robot hiding out in a boat shell. The problem with that thinking is, every TF is pretending to be something else. We have Duocon tech used to make Energon Autobots Powerlinx. Reflector style tech that makes 3 minicons become 1 single weapon. Combiners...Nuff said. The list goes on
