How would you feel about asymetric alts?

Recommended Posts

We've seen 10 or more alt body styles since the line debuted, and they've all been symmetric, except for maybe a lopsided smirk.  Would asymetric alts be an interesting addition, or would they be more difficult to engineer?

If they end up with giant hand of doom like X-Brawn. Pass.

As far as I can recall, the whole asymmetrical TFs thing came in with Beast Wars...? I'm having a hard time thinking of many G1 or even G2 guys who were asymmetrical, other than minor stuff like the placement of a weapon. I guess Metroplex was asymmetric, but not in the way that some of the Beast Wars guys were.

Well anyway, the point is that if they're looking to G1 for inspiration, my guess is that you're going to keep seeing symmetrical molds. Plus I'm sure it's easier to design that way, given that you're starting with a symmetrical alt mode.

well i guess the RiD car brothers proved it can be done granted it will be a Starscream to transform

thinking about it if they changed how x-brawns normal sized arm and head transformed they could make a cool 4x4 Binal tech out of him.

Asymetrical...

Depends, anything other than arms being Asymmetrical looks silly IMO.  But if they go the X-Brawn route like WRX said I say no.

Note: the guy who designed the RiD car brothers is the same guy who designs Alts/BTs for Takara.

I always hoped that an asymetric Alt/BT would make its way into the line.  I think well-done asymetry is really cool and adds alot to the toy.  Granted, it probably is too difficult to do feasibly.

Asymmetrical Transformers started out during the first series of G1 - albeit subtle, it was still asymmetrical (Hound, Soundwave, and Megatron, for example.) Then who can forget Devastator and Omega Supreme? They're perfect examples of G1 Asymmetry. In fact, all G1 Gestalts were assymetrical - even the component robots that makes them up (i.e. Hook, Scavenger, and Long Haul).

Asymmetry is a great design feature if it's done right. I think Alt Shockblast is a good example of that. It'll be great to see something different and artistically bold in the Alt line.

well if the transformation calls for it. Pretty much to balance and distribute body mass from vehicle to robot mode. IE Galaxy Force Demolisher. Symetrical body except for the weapons layout but assyemetrical in transformation. Like Satanstorm said. It works if its functional. OR if its aesthetic, like how RiD Prime's supermode has the shoulder strap plate.

alt shock blast is pritty much symetrical apart from the steering wheel and his hands so i would not go as far to say hes artistically bold for having a gun hand (tho he is my fav but its cuz hes a mazdaspeed II epition)

ps. whats with the h8 for X-Brawn Uber fists rule
