Transformers News sites with RSS Feeds?

Recommended Posts

I figure it being 2005 and RSS being all over...I figure I would run across an RSS feed or two...but I have yet to see a Transformers site with one...

Sorry this thread is for non IE users (unless you downloaded some third party plug in or using that other MS browser (That has .1% chance of getting RSS feeds to work or are using IE and are from year 2007 - basically IE + RSS = 2007)

Anyways I thought it would be cool to pump RSS feed through screen saver...news and screen saver all in one...

Thanks to Quartz Composer...

I figure I could do something like the CNN Globe Screensaver except instead of Articles coming from earth they could be coming from a Transparent Grey Cybertron...

Thoughts?

and RSS is?.......

News subscriptions pulled down standard format...

Thanks for that... I just updated my PSP to 2.60 version which enables RSS feeds.

I'll have to give this a shot!

No TF news site allows you to access the XML RSS, only the PHP render of the XML. I found that annoying because then the only way to use an RSS (from TFormers.com for example) is to use a PHP include.

Yeah, RSS is slowly catching on... the idea of syndicating info on other sites has been resisted for so long as you didn't want others 'ganking' your info...

But now it is getting all over...

You just have to throw another step into the mix.

Used to be:

Database Backend --> Web newsportal Front End

Now it is:

Database Backend --> Dynamic RSS XML file --> RSS Aggregator Front end

Here is an RSS feed I have been playing with for my TF site, and I am not sure what more to do with it. I would love some input from someone who uses RSS regularly.

OK firstly, it appears that you are using a flat-file (image) array as your RSS stream. pretty weird if you ask me...

The implementation I plan on using (eventually) will use this process:

1. someone posts news to database.

2. admin approves news.

3. site builds page, adds url/date to database.

4. site appends data to xml file.

5. XML file is used for RSS, or available directly, or included in PHP.

So that way it runs itself.

But, for completenesses sake, it would be best to offer both an RSS and XML file for linking.

And using an ASP page for you might work for your end, but most webservers (like mine) can't process it because they dont run IIS or have the appropriate 3rd party serverware on there to use it.
