Uranus 5 review

Recommended Posts

First off some simple pics:

Uranus 5

The Story:  Back in '98 or so I lived near Farmington, NM and after a movie I was suprised to see a new import store. I went in and was happy to find a cool looking bot on a card. On the front of the card was the name Uranus 5 Robot, and on the back a cheaply photcopied set of instructions. This was before I started being a true TF collector and never kbew what I was looking at was a KO Fort Max!!! Snatched it for for $5-$10! OK, now on to the review...

As I mentioned, the toy was on a bubble card. It features various shots of the toy in a few of it's modes. The back is a photocopy of the G1 Fort Max instructions. The only problem with this is that it showed everything that came with the g1 toy. Uranus 5 only came with 2 guns and the mini-headmaster.

The toy is made from slightly cheap plastic, but still holds it own. The accessories do not fit very well. The legs are the roughest part of the toy, they tend to be rigid and tranforming the robot may cause them to snap. They (along with the tower peices) do not fit together as well as they should, but that is to be expected from a KO. The headmaster is very detailed for a ko, and fits well on the robot.

Overall it's an awsome toy and fits perfectly into any Transformer collection. Though slightly hard to find, it can be anywhere from $25-$50+ mint, and alone sometimes is hawked as a Fort Max Jr, so be careful!

I'd give it a 8 out of 10. For a KO it's well done, well presented, and stays very true to the real deal. The price can be right if you look around enough and is a great filler until you can afford the G1's. If you're not a ko person, this toy will not be for you, same with hardcore g1 pureist. Those who are willing to give a toy a chance, this is your guy.

I actually have a Fort Max Jr and that thing craps all over it :redface

Holy Blot. I had forgotten about this guy.

I heard his HeadMaster will actually fit Cerebros on the original Fortess Maximus. Is this true??

dang good question...can anyone confirm this?

Man, I still get excited over TF's that turn into bases.  Even if they are mini bases... :thumb

I'm missing just a few parts to my G1 Fort Max, Spike being one of the pieces. I use Uranus's head in place of him. Fits just fine. It's basically a G1 headmaster head, but the forehead thing doesn't flip and his legs are shortened to fit over the ramp hinge of the mini Fort Max. So... confirmed!

The mold's entirely different from "Fort Max Jr.", so I wouldn't use "Jr." as a descriptor for this guy.
