MP Prime's Hands

Recommended Posts

Hi.  I am here to call on the awesome power of the Kitbashers and people who take apart their transformers daily... I was wondering if you guys had any hints on making Masterpiece Primes hands a little tighter, so he can grip his large gun a bit better.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I had trouble getting my 20th Anniv. Prime to hold his blaster well too.

I realized that if you turned his thumb to point sorta downwards, he grips his large gun better.  *insert bad sex joke here*

I don't know if you get what I'm saying, but if you position his thumb like the red part in the picture (I drew his right hand)...

I've had this problem as well; in fact, I was wrestling with it just yesterday.

The reason prime's fingers are so loose is the nature of the joint itself: a single pin holds all the fingers in place on the hand. because of this, the joint has a tendency after a while to loosen up. the way to fix this isn't quite as easy as the explanation, but it's not exactly rocket science:

1) Tape the tips of prime's fingers together. this will prevent his fingers from scattering all over the place in 2).

2) Remove the pin from prime's hand, and carefully remove his fingers from his hand. (see DLP's guide on pin removal in IGTKB)

3) CAREFULLY remove the tape from prime's fingers, and lay them each out IN ORDER (index, middle, ring, pinky)

4) Using a pair of needle-nose pliers, carefullr cripmt the INNER edge of the hole where the pin goes into the finger. take extra care not to damage the "spacer" that seperates the fingers. do all the fingers in order.

5) Reassemble the fingers in order. use the pin to align all the holes, then tape the ends again. remove the pin.

6) Place the fingers into the hand, and GENTLY tap the pin back in. If it won't go, remove the pin and check the hole in the hand to see if any of the fingers slipped ot are misaligned.

This should tighten up the hand considerably, and make it possible for prime to hold his weapon a bit more securely. Another idea would be to glue a small peg on the handle of prime's gun, and drill a matching hole in prime's hand, so it won't slip.

Hope this helps you out1 good luck! :thumb

Thanks for the tips guys.  both suggestions worked out very well!

I had this problem as well but I find as long a Prime isn't moved or bumped in any way he stays as is no problem. Gun aimed outwards and all. :thumb
