Tips for long-term storage needed! :)

Recommended Posts

"This place ain't big enough for all 625 of us!!"

So... I've decided to pack away my Beast Wars/Machines bots.  I've pared it down from 128 to 37 still staying on the shelves (The leaders, combiners, vehicles, and a couple other choice bots), so any tips on the best way to store the rest?

When I moved last time (back in 2000), i folded them up as best I could, and wrapped them in several layers of toilet paper, then sealed them in a box.  Not a single injury among them.

Would this be good for long term, though?  I'm planning on taking them back out when I have a house, and more room to put them out.

Any other ideas?

much appreciated

well Primus bless the 'vacant bedroom' After my brother moved out of his room I expanded my shop to his shelves. He can home for the holidays and thought it was pretty cool. But seriously. I see a lot of guys use tuperware crates and bubble wrap.

I've got my boxes all packed into dumpster liner bags and stashed in the attic in the driest/rat free zone.

Seriously? Cuz I'm doing the exact same thing.

I just packed a bunch of mine up loose in a box with accessories in plastic bags.

Well renting a storage space is not a good option.  Rented a 15 by 15 storage place and half of it was for my collection.  Sure they would be safe if my house burnt down.  But paing $75 a month was not worth it.

i put all my stuff in a box and store it in my attic but idd mark all your stuff and make sure its air tight

Throw it all in a big tupperware bin and put it in the closet.

Throw out all the boxes. They just take up room.

oh, i guess a little more detail would help -

1) they're all open.  no boxes.

2) I've just cleared a bunch of drawer space that i don't need, in the living room.  I was thinking, plastic bags, in the drawers?

im like spencer i have huge amounts of giant bins filled with transformers

Put all of them in Ziploc bags. Wrap the more delicate ones in bubble wrap, and then put them in the bags. Store in a dark place and preferrably not a humid one (just in case one of the bags has an undetected opening in it). Empty drawers, like you mentioned, would be perfect.
