I personally liked Swindle's shenanigans in the episodes.  Silverbolt's was meh.

The best thing about Swindle was that he sold off his comrades as spare parts.

Aside from Silverbolt, the Aerialbots were like Huey, Dewey, and Louie to me -- all the same an' couldn't tell a whit of diff betwixt any o' them 'cept for their colors.. sort of..

Seeing as how the Aerialbots should have each been just as large as bots like Starscream or Skywarp, they were always a disappointment to me.

I ahve to agree and say it was all about personality.  He was one of the G1 guys that was so well writtien that he is the msot remembered out of that subgroup.  Then Octane stole his whole act in s3

Swindle is cool indeed.

He even dared to charge Galvatron for Metroplex's transforming cog. Took guts indeed but it was not the smartest thing to do of course.

I think both the show and comic writers each had their favorite characters and wanted to showcase them.

In the G1 comics, Bludgeon was heavily featured, even leading the Deceptions untill his demise in G2.

Nightbeat was also extensively used in G1 and sadly had a last appereance in G1.

Both would return for War Within which was also written by Furman. Furman obviously liked them and it shows. Bludgeon was the leader for awhile and Nightbeat saved the Autobots from Thunderwing when he was possessed.

The first does not match the tech spec of Bludgeon (or More Than Meets The Eye entry) in anyway but I can see Nightbeat in his role easily. I think he would make a decent squad leader if the situation called for it.

i have this theory that the personalities of the combaticons are based on the members of the A-Team. i got this from reading their bios:

Onslaught = John "Hannibal" Smith

Brawl = BA Barracus

Vortex = Howling Mad Murdoch

Swindle = Templeton "Face" Peck

Blast-Off = Considering his snobbery, probably the reporter chick from the first season.

I don't think Face would've sold out the a-team.

I don't think Face would've sold out the a-team.

he would if he was evil like Swindle.
