Articulated Rotorstorm WIP

Recommended Posts

This would seem like a totally random choice to articulate and yeah well it kind of is. Well anyway it's a work in progress. Already done is the elbows, head/neck, both legs, waist and one hand. Still needs to be beefed up so you can't see the joints and then on to painting. Also, there are a few things that need to be fixed, holes and such. Well check out the first picture....

Sweet! I like it.

nice... what are you using for the joints... my g1 rodimus is dying to find out :eplus

Well for most addition of joints I just dig into my box of junkers. For Rotorstorm I used....

Hands  - Knockoff Rattrap arm Balljoints

Elbows - TM Cheetor Arm Balljoint and Socket in the forearm

Waist - Knockoff K9 Shoulder to the Body (the long swinging one), styrene and putty

Head - Knockoff K9 Beast Head Half socket with the matching balljoint that sits on the shoulder

Legs - Random red bionicle that was on clearence

I was considering adding movement to the knees but that would be pretty pointless. The shoulders also could have some movement thanks to an idea by jimsloth but it's 4:30 in the morning so it's going to have to wait to see if I can execute it.

On the rodimus note... I've always wanted to add some articulation to him. You can already see where the knees should be. I'll see if I can get my hands on a junker and see what I can do. (never dissasembled one before)

BTW here's a picture of the puttied up legs. Just need to wait for it to dry so I can sand them to be nice and uniformed then on to painting...

i hope you're going to just paint him up with the same colours again.

btw the stickers on the first one on the left are applied wrong.

red stickers you can tell where they're meant to go on the thighs as is marked on them, green triangles on forearms and the pink one on either shoulder, nice work :thumb, rotorstorm was a class mold for a g1 brick, is there anything inside the joining part between the two legs?

rolf at the sticker apps on the original

cool projet the finished toy should rock

On the sticker part... Hahaha yeah they are terrible. I never bought a Rotorstorm new so I'm stuck with second hand ones. It looks like the previous owner read "place on right arm" as "stick it randomly on chest somewhere".

With that aside, There is a really fat freakin' pin inside the tube that connects the legs. I couldn't get it out intact so I cut right through it. I've been improvising with the paint job since I barely have a cash flow at the moment (16 year old student) so it shall be close but not the same.

Thanks for all the great comments. He should be finished (paint and all) within the next 2 days providing there's no good parties on :P

Pretty cool job there, and lol at the stickers on the lefthand Rotorstorm.

I think he's due for an homage, maybe the Evac repaint would be nice.

Damn! I want it! even that figure as the Universe SandStorm!

Now how about doing that with the MW Soundwave too... or dare I say... MW Optimus Prime (aka Thunderclash!)

  • Author

I've already planned MW Optimus or Thunderclash fully articulated and with a G1 paint job, just can't get my hands on any to 'bash at the moment. I never see MW Soundwaves sold around here but plenty of Stalkers. Both are a possibility but MW Optimus is going to be done as soon as I get one to work on  :thumb

Also, thanks for the comments. This is the first time I've been brave enough to post some of my works and it's be warmly recieved. Thanks  :thumb
