Energon Built to Rule

Recommended Posts

I just bought the Energon BTRs and I say I like them.  Thye actually look good in bot form.

I have assembled Prime first.  He is not fat, no stupid power ranger mode and he actually looks good.  He looks like Prime in both modes.  His trailer carries a double missle cannon transforms into a battle platform.  I did not put batteries in his guns to check the lights out yet.  If only I had a camera!  Now to put together more!  I give him  :tfgrin  :tfgrin  :tfgrin  :tfgrin  out of 5.

Next, I put together Starscream.  Another great improvement over the old BTRs.  Both modes look very good.  No sword, but he has 4 nonfiring missiles and his 2 firing launchers.  I give him 4 out of 5.  He is my overall favorite of the set.

Then Skyblast is a repainted BTR Ramjet.  The best part is the Energon turret.  It looks very nice and has the transparent energon plastic for most of the parts.  Since he is smaller, he loses some of his articulation in his arms and he is simpler than the others.  I give him 3 1/2 out of 5

Energon Ironhide is cursed. His truck mode is just fine, but his bot mod stinks.  He has this backpack you build and all it does is give him Whelljack-esque wings.  His gun has to be mounted on his shoulder but the clip for the wheels is almost impossible to remove without using a lever.  No matter what, Ironhide sucks. The only reason to get him is to complete the set.  I give him 2 out of 5.

Scorponok has an awesome beast mode.  He has several specially designed parts including a swinging tail that has the original toy's hypermode feature.  The bot mode is average.  The bot mode does not fit the look of the character well.  It does not have the look or feel of the ones that have chest plates. I give him  :tfgrin :tfgrin  :tfgrin  3/4 out of 5.  He would be my favorite if he had a nicer looking bot mode.

Finally is Inferno.  He is a repaint of Armada Roll Out.  He somewhat resembles Inferno due to the paint alterations.  Once again, he is rather simple due to his size.  Like Skyblast, he has a double missile battery.  The double missile battery is almost neater than the figure.  I give him 3 out of 5.

These are an extreme improvement over the first BTR.  They seem to hold together just fine.  I had to work to pry some pieces apart.  They all have waist, shoulder, knee, hip, elbow and head articulation.  These BTR have real arms and legs that look good.  The only bad thing is you have to strip the bots down to the basic body to transform them, but that is to be expected I suppose.  Otherwise they would be way to complex and cost a lot more.  The body transforms to a limit extent, you just have add the details.

Anyone who wants to purchase them, I have access to them so let me know:  http://forums.transfandom.com/invboard/ind...showtopic=32297

Nice little mini-reviews.

I don't own any of these yet, maybe someday.

I got them about a month ago and I agree. They're really good IN COMPARISON TO THE ARMADA BTR's. They are still block bots and don't really compare to the real thing.
