will ebay prices go up during the holidays?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Im an ebay seller from Japan and usually sells Japanese exclusives.  I am not a scalper who sets incredibly high Buy-it-now prices.    (For the record I think is ebay is much less work to sell than fielding questions from forums.)  And I always help my customers get TFs outside of ebay (as numerous posters here can attest.)

But I am curious how ebay sales are affected during the holidays.  From my perspective (a seller) is it better hold exclusive pieces until the holidays?  Will prices go way up?

-Thanks for any advice.

I'd say yes they will go up as people search for gifts and such.

And that's the solely reason i try to avoid buying from ebay on holidays.  My cash won't get spent on any overpriced item.

More auctions over the holidays.  Even more buyers over the holidays.

Who the hell knows, one thing i am sure of is that you cant predict ebay ;)

Damn right!

I would wait until the initial surge of any figure goes down, then people who "missed the boat" will pay more cos it's harder to get hold of.

I tend to notice this type of pattern:

1.A few sellers get figure early = sells at high price.

2.Every seller gets figure = prices even out.

3.Sellers have too many figure = sells cheaply to clear (this is a gamble if you're a buyer, doesn't always happen).

4.Figure becomes rare = people pay stupid amounts (this is a gamble for sellers, as demand may not pick up & you're holding dead stock).

I try to buy at stage 2 if I have the money.

I've never noticed if the prices go up. Then again, I only look at the cheap stuff anyways.

My gut tells me yes, though how much is up to debate.

Pennsylvania's allotment of toys from February to November is comparable the amount of rainfall on the moon.  Scalpers must do brisk business with us.  As the supply chain loosens up a bit over the shopping season (but not enough for retailers to stop whining about poor numbers), the number of buyers also increases.  It leads me to believe any change is ultimately irrelevant.

Supply on eBay will certainly increase.

Prices will depend on how desperate how many people get.

I'll be avoiding most auctions altogether until 2006.

i dont pay much attention to that xclusive stuff.the same, i still think most of stuff prices cant go up.

i prefer to buy JP version or series
