Need Help with Sticker Production

Recommended Posts

Bought a white KO Binaltech Hound off of ebay about a month back and wanted to turn him into a tweeked version of Energon Checkpoint.

I am using a left over Tracks head, and the visor from Jazz, but need SWAT stickers to bring the whole thing together.

Any help on printing stickers would be great, what kind of paper to use, and so forth.

Here is what I have so far.

i use those big address labels and make designs on picture it plus...but there a re alot beter people in this forum than i.....like squall maybe hell reply or u could always reques from reprolabels

Very cool idea...Checkpoint makes an excellent Alternator.

The Tracks head looks good, but you may want to consider using an Alternator Smokescreen head.  Take a look at Alternator Smokescreen, and then at the Energon Rodimus/Checkpoint head...its nearly dead-on, even as far as the head crests...

As far as decals go, you are going to need several different items:

  - Color Inkjet Printer

  - Paint/Photo Program (I use Adobe Photoshop, Mattimus uses PictureIt Plus...and there is many more...)

  - Testors makes a Decal System that comes with some software...

but I don't think it allows you to create your own decals...I think you have to use the preset designs.  (I could be wrong)

  - Decal Paper available in white and clear...and I imagine other colors...superquad uses an aluminum finish paper...

  - Decal Bonder

Basically, what you are going to do, is design what it is you want to print out...you have to make sure you size the image properly to make sure it is going to fit on your Alternator...so always measure...never "eyeball" it...you'll just end up wasting the decal paper...

Load your decal paper into your inkjet printer.  The decal paper is a weird size, I think its something like 5.5" by 8.5" so make sure to set the paper tray correctly.

Print your decals.

Spray the decal bonder over the decals.  If you do not do this, your decals WILL NOT survive.  They will smudge and run, and ESPECIALLY on a WHITE toy...the ink will be a pain in the @$$ to get off.  I speak from experience.  I didn't know about the decal bonder because I don't read instructions.

Once dry, (about 2 hours later) you can cut your decals out, stay as close as possible to the decal when cutting.

Get a bowl of water...and take your decal and dip the opposite side of the decal in the water for less than 5 seconds.

Get outa utility knife and gently separate the decal from the paper, and apply carefully to the position on the Alternator.

Align it into position while its wet.

Decal will dry over night!

Enjoy your decalled toy!  Awesome!

Good luck...and if you need any help just PM me!

Squall thanks for the help.  I am heading out in the morning to pick up supplies to do this and you just supplied me with the proper shopping list.

I agree with you about the head swap with Smokescreen, I have an extra one being used on the blue Prowl currently, but was not especially attached to the way it looked so I think I am going to go ahead and swap it out.

Thanks for all the help.

I will post pics when its done.
