Are you prone to jumping to conclusions?

Recommended Posts

I guess so.  I always figured that by the time we got to see a proto, from someone buying it on ebay, most of them have already been produced.  How often are we given an official look at protos?  Once a year at botcon?  And if the protos are shown at a convention, I really doubt any fan concerns will alter the mold.

Perhaps at times, but we've recently seen either hardcopies or test shots of Alt Mirage and Alt Prime.  I'm pretty sure they're still months off which means the manufacturing, packaging, marketing (what there is for the Alt line anyways) are still far from done.

Not to be snippy but that sounds a bit too much like the customers thinking what Charles Foster Kane tells them to think.

who's Charles Foster Kane?

Citizen Kane, that is.

considering that the plans and designs for a line usually predate the release of the line by months, if not years, I don't think the delay is really that different.

I don't enjoy waiting that long (but then again, I'm impatient hehe).  After years of trial and error, fans had to tell them before they even came up with an idea like the BT/Alts line.  When trial and error does work, such as coming up with Transformers in the first place, it can be quite amazing.  On the whole though, I think that some guidance from the demand-side helps expedite the development of products that buyers want.

Well, i feel that we are only human and humans prejudge. It is just how we are. And it is silly to think that someone will not form any kind of judgement or opinion on a Prototype they see. I get the vibe that its ok to judge it if you like it, however if you dont, you get topics like these started about you....just my feeling of things here.

oh boy. I hate these discussions. Everybody judges everything. Dont tell me you dont. I look at something and immediatly state "stupid" or "thats radtastic" THAT is human nature. If people didnt jump to conclusions, we wouldnt have war and rascism would we?

I usually jump to the conclusion that I'll probably change my mind about a mold when I see it in a store.

:pfx Exactly.

can i :tazbot that times like a billion?

I never called anyone out specifically or had anyone in mind when I wrote this. Honest.

It's a discussion board. People have every right to Starscream, and for whatever reason, to skim. Like this guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I actually enjoyed reading what Glue and Shadow ES had to say. So don't *ahem* jump to the conclusion that it's about you. :)

To be honest, I don't judge figures when I see prototypes.  I've been seeing them long enough to know that my mind is always made in the store.

Though I really appreciate seeing the protos before release unless it's something completely off the map as to what I should come to expect from a Transformer chances are I'll buy it.

Recent examples would be GF/Cybertron's Dinoshout/Undermine or Sadios/Backstop. They may still be fugly in all the posted pics but when you see them on the shelves you just know you want them. I haven't seen Sadios anywhere but I really like Undermine. one of the best Scouts IMO.

The only releases I've completely passed on after seen seen on the shelves is the entire LOC line. They look cool but I just don't see the point in owning minicon sized figures of ones i already own.

That's a good enough reason.  Those LOC figures photograph really well, but damn are they small when you actually see them in person.
