Unknown Proto Pics

Recommended Posts

This is an interesting Proto.  Some pictures have surfaced here before, but I thought I'd give a little more depth to them with some follow up information.

This is a basic size figure in the form of a Hovercraft.  Interestingly enough, my son asked if it was Seaspray.  I hadn't thought about that, but it could be possible.  The only thing that would keep me from thinking it was him is the Decepticon logo on the Planet Chip.  But that Decepticon logo is strange in itself as basic figures usually have planet symbols on them.  It could be just a spare chip that was put with this proto so.  So who knows.

Here is a view from the front.

From the back.  A bit fuzzy.  Its a double whammy.  I suck with a camera and my camera sucks too.  Heh.

From the side.

Robot mode is both good and bad.  I like the proportions of the body and the huge cannons on his shoulders.  But the overly ape like arms with claw hands I'm just not thrilled about.

Inserting his force chip in the rear swings out two cannons.  He also comes with a gun that can either sit on top of the Hovercraft in the middle or be plugged into his hand/claw.  It looks odd there and is yet another reason I'm not thrilled with his arms.

His transformation is relatively simple, but effective.  For having such a huge backpack, he stands well and seems well balanced.

The interesting part about this little guy is that I can find no Takara or Hasbro stamp ANYWHERE on him.  He is definitely a proto that has been made out of an actual mold and not a hardcopy.  But I can't find anything.  That isn't consistent with other protos I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on.

Enjoy!

So he actually uses a force chip. He struck me has a minicon at first but that idea's shot. A new Seaspray would be pretty cool. I wonder what they'll call him in the end.

oh, this guy again. i was expecting another new proto.

Stormcloud or Waterlog I bet

I like him...

And I do hope he comes with an Earth Cyber Planet Key and I do hope he is a Decepticon

We don't need anymore Earth keys. I've already got three times as many Earth kets as the other Planets and there ae still some figures I want with Earth keys.

I share this sentiment.

Wonder what his backstory/bio is and whether he'll appear in the show...

Actually, Ramble also comes with a Decepticon Forcechip, so this guy having a Decetpticon Key isn't that odd.

Personally, I Don't mind the clamp-hands if they look good, and these look reasonable. I think he'll be called Seaclamp, a name that would fit him.

I reckon he's going to be one of the Criminals imprisoned in Antarctica, and released by Starscream, similar to Thunderclash, or whatever her name is (Chromia sounds way better still, IMO)

I don't really like the color chosen for this proto, though. I hope it's a test-shot, and that his final colorscheme would be more Seaspary-like. Not because I'm such a G1 fan, but because I think it would suit the mold more.

Hasbro is trying to keep the keys alligned with the tf's alt-mode. since the most popular tf alt-modes are those that are semi-based on Earth vehicles then we can expect plenty of Earth keys.

This is an "unpainted" proto.
