What about Beast Wars?  Who were the opposites there other than Megatron - Primal and Rampage - Depthcharge??

I also think the seekers were the opposite for the datsun bros (prowl, smokescreen, and bluestreak)

They were the same. They all had no personality besides Starscream.

For BW, maybe Airazor and Terrorsaur. Tigatron love nature and life and Inferno hated everything besides the "Colony" and wanted to burn stuff.

Um, where did it say Mirage felt that Earth should be harvested to aid the Autobots?  Granted, Mirage has always been painted as someone who wasn't sure he belonged fighting with the Autobots, but I don't think this particular distinction was ever made...

I think for the most part, you guys are seeing connection where there isn't (apophenia.)

 

There are many more Autobot characters than the Decepticons, so it's easier to arbitrarily link a Decepticon to any available Autobot.

 

Case in point, I can link Starscream to Grimlock. They are both lieutenants, both are quite powerful, both are ambitious, both are resentful of authority other than their own, and both are power hungry.

 

Prowl and Soundwave are both calm, cool, and logical. They both serve their respective leaders loyally and both are trusted by their leaders, and both occupy lieutenant type positions.

 

Both Thundercracker and Gears are grouches

 

Both Skywarp and Mirage are sneaky

 

Both Shockwave and Perceptor are scientific and rational

 

 

Etc, etc, etc.

 

I don't think Megatron and Optimus Prime are too different, either. They are both power-hungry, they just employ different means to achieve their agenda.

Although there's no mention of this in Mirage his bio, but at least in one the first four issues of the Marvel US comics we read Mirage thinking that he thinks that they should just take from the humans what they need. (And since Bob Budiansky, who wrote most of the earliest G1 bios was involved with these first four issues, I think it's safe to say Mirage was potrayed in a proper way.)
