I like this idea. The idea that Transformers are not anthropomorphocentric is the reason why G1 is so popular. Look at the old G1 rooster - that has animal instead of "humanoid" forms (some don't even have an "biologically based" form - Raindance and Grand Slam are perfect examples):

Ravage

Laserbeak

Buzzsaw

Steeljaw

Ramhorn

Trypticon

Sky Lynx

Ratbat

Beastbox

Squawktalk

To be honest, having animal forms instead of humanoid forms would be a breathe of fresh air to the Alternators/Binaltech line, a line that is supposed to be a tribute/mimic to G1.

I would definitely fork out money for an Alternator Steeljaw.

It's odd that you don't think of the G1 bots as anthropomorphic, considering that the comic designers were specifically instructed to make the robots look more human. Animal-looking robots are only one step removed from that. I'd think of a non-humanoid robot as being something like a tank with various appendages and what not. It'd make more sense than a big tall thing with a high center of gravity that has to keep its balance all the time, as it walks around on two legs.

I used "anthropomorphic" as to having robots looking like humans.

I drew up a concept sketch for it. It's pretty much the best drawing I've ever done.

They should give you a job at hasbro.

Maybee not  :redface

i like my bots to look humanish bont get me wrong in the main line a animal bot mode would look cool solong as they are drones like GF soundwave's condor/lazerbeak. but imo in the alt/bt line i like what they have going and an animal beast would look a little naff

This is a terrible terrible idea. The only robot ive  seen pull this off was sixshot. but he had other modes to make up for the beast mode. Just having a car and a robot mode is straying too much from what transformers are. Sue you could say that it is a cassett-ish fashion, but no one would want it.

I agree.

But the reason why Sixshot’s puma mode works is because it is mechanical looking like Razorclaws or Scorponoks. It fits with all his other modes.

I personally do not care for realistic animal alt modes. It does not make sense to me and looks plain ridiculous IMO. Transformers were never meant to have fur.

A beast mode is just as good as a robot mode. Wild cats have no problems hunting, living, walking, climbing & raising familes on 4 legs. Why does a transformer need to stand up on 2 legs to do his military type job. the transformers are basically in the military. mainly because both sides are always fighting.  I would think several elite 4 leg Wild cat transformer would make good hunters & can climb almost anything.

A Mechanical beast mode is just as good as a robot mode. that is if your assigned to rough terrain combat.

Obviously you'd need a TF robot mode is you sit in a office & use advanced computers or press buttons every day.  If your a fighter who hunts his prey & is the muscle in the army then a beast mode will get the job done. you could still grab things with your front paws. wild cats grab things with there front paws all the time.

It would be cool to have a Animal that transform into a racing car. the transformer can chase his prey on a smooth level surface. then when the prey heads for the mountains, rocky road or water/rivers. the transformer can adapt to his surrondings & transform into a wild cat.

Having a robot mode is over-rated. These are alien robots from another planet. why would they care about looking like a earth human in humanoid form???  A tranformer should pick both modes based on his job qualifications.

With that above said, there dozens of non-robot mode transformers out there from 1984-2005.  here's a few examples: Armada Laserbeak, G-1 1986 Trypticon,1986 G-1 Skylynx,a few 1984-1987 cassettes on both faction sides. BM Beastmutants,BM Beastchanger/noble/savage. those basic weapons that transform to animals in that BM Line,etc...  These guys got the job done they were assigned to with no problems without a humonoid robot mode.
