Alternators Stakeout

Recommended Posts

Here is the gallery to my custom Alternators Stakeout.  He is the second of my Cybertronian Police force (the first one being Hot Pursuit, my first custom ever.  Stakeout is made from a Ravage, Swerve roof, and a repro Tracks head.  I added the light bar and my own custom labels.  Also, though the repro head rocks, there was an air bubble on his mouth.  I then decided to carve out a new mouth.  I am pleased with the result.  I also added a Gundam rifle, courtesy of Cybertronian Artifacts.

Stakeout is originally a G1 Micromaster police car and I just liked the name as it seems indicative to being another patrol cruiser 'staking out' for speeders and such.

I guess Stakeout holds a special place in my heart because of his link to Hot Pursuit, who got me into customizing to begin with.  It was just neat to create Stakeout and then look back at Hot Pursuit to see my progress from the start of my Alt customs to the present time.  It's hard to believe that I started December 2004 with customizing Alts.  Time flies when you're having fun!  Or maybe I'm just that hardcore about Alt customs . . .

Anyways, enjoy the gallery(s)!  Constructive feedback welcome!

So, should I expect this in the mail any time soon as a belated birthday present?

Wish I could do that good of job. Exceptional as always  :thumb

Sorry, Stakeout is "staking out" in my neck of the woods for a while.  You'll get your belated b-day present when you see what I do with that red (hope you got my e-mail on colors) Wheeljack head.  My idea for it is gonna rock hard. :tfevil

Thank you, as always, your positive feedback and support.  Now everyone go buy some repros!  (shameless plug for Ken  :tflaugh )

Nice Job Super,  really nice.  Tracks is my favorite mold, and you did a good job turning him into a police car.    Plus that crazy Gundam gun looks pretty good in his hand.  Did you make the repro Tracks head?  If so, good job.  Memme know if you ever do prowl's head.

Yes I got your email and payment yesterday, thank you. Just been real sick the last few weeks and I just spend a little time on the boards, answer a couple of emails and back to bed is about the extent on my days. Sorry all.

Pike, is that the new Alt one or a custom? Either way, yes. I will have a Tracks repro head here one day soon. Spencer from A3U sent me one.

Alternators Prowl. Sweet-  I could use a Tracks head eventually... molded in gray.  =)  I'd send you a prowl head, but I don't have the dough for the moldnig cost right now.

You can't give any idea when that'll be, can you?  That's the sort of thing that would get me to start buying from your site.

Pike, thank you for your positive feedback!  I think, if anyone, if you thought my work was lacking, you'd let me know!  Your feedback means a lot and thank you for your honesty! :tfgrin  Feedback of all sorts is useful; the positive keeps me going and the negative pushes me more. :tflaugh1

The Tracks mold is a favorite of mine as well (though I think I have to say the Meister/Shockblast is my favorite I believe).  The design is just really well done.  This particular custom is from all 3 Vettes (Ravage body, Swerve roof [you think I'm taking a Tracks for that?  :tftongue ], and a repro Tracks head).  Police cars just rock and I think I will do one final police car in the future.  I don't want a Decepticon police car, but I like police cars!  I think most of us would agree, however, that the Decepticon ranks are slim, so my main focus of Alt customs will be more Decepticons with the occasional Autobot.

As far as the repro head goes, I am not able to take credit for that.  I just started customs Dec. '04, so I've not ventured into the custom world for too long.  My skills are progressing I believe and I eventually want to get to scratchbuilding.  An Ultra Magnus transforming trailer is my goal.  As for credit for the head, I'm unable to give any credit for that either because the creator asked to be withheld due to lack of time to fill order requests  :tflaugh He's a friend of mine and I have a high respect for his/her work as well.

Haha, really?  I didn't think my opinion counted for much, but thats cool!

yeah, police vehicles definitely seem to be popular, of course they have history in the Transformers line so its understandable.  They get done so often, it seems hard to come up with an idea thats new.  I mean just off the top of my head, the only two molds I can think of that haven't been done into police cars (that I've seen) are Grimlock and Windcharger.

I'm planning a rescue type vehicle for the next custom I'll be doing.  Hopefully it'll get done eventually.  =)

Everyone's opinions count for something!  What I was trying to say was I don't think you would try to sugarcoat anything just for the sake of saying something.  I think if you really didn't like my custom, you'd tell me so. :tftongue

Also, I really realize the value of critism. Having an art background in college (but studio and graphic design), I know that when someone says "I really don't like that," there is something I can benifit from that.  What I can't benefit from is when someone says "that's awful" and then preceeds to say nothing to alude to why he/she thinks that way towards someone's work.

A notable example was my own Thrust custom.  I had reached a point to where I thought I was finished, I had taken a few quick photos, then posted them.  People were very constructive (which is an essential key), but gave me reasons why they didn't like certain choices I had made, and also offered alternative solutions.  After the posts, I took a break from it, came back to reevaluate, and then decided to push the idea even more.  I have to say that  I am tons more happy with the end result because of constructive critism.  Sometimes making art, we get tunnel vision and when someone offers a fresh perspective, it's valuable.

I have always had a fascination with police cars.  I have one more planned, and after that, I think I'll stop with it (and judging from your post, you can probably figure which mold I am going to use  :tftongue ).  I'll go ahead and say upfront that it will be of the same deco, just to give my "Cybertronian Police" a bit of unity, with Alt Prowl being the "captain" so to speak.

From a emergency/utility vehicle - TF standpoint, the issue with me isn't whether they get done too often/not enough, but simply that I am really tired of having so few Decepticon Alts.  Even with my 3 Seeker customs and Overcharge, I only have 9 Decepticons as opposed to all of the Hasbro-made Alts + my own custom Autobot Alts.  I only plan to do this upcoming police car and an Alt Beachcomber from the Swindle mold for Autobot customs; I really want to focus in on making my customs build the Decepticon ranks.    :tfevil

By the way, I can't wait to see your next custom! :tfgrin

Well, I think Ken has stated that he's working on some of the custom heads anyways.  So it looks as if patience will pay off here.
