may no effect...

scared Rita :redface

I believe that the rest of the nation doesn't understand just how big Texas is. The distance from North Dallas to Houston is well over three hundred miles (about a four hour trip). The hurricane is moving about 18mph. Do the math.

Granted, we will see some thunder storms and a few poor SoBs might get a tornado or two, but it will be several days into next week. Don't fret my pets.

Ive made that drive before and your right, thats at the very least a 4 hour drive, doubtful frisco will get anything but maybe a few thunderstorms

Only effect I see is that Houston residents will evacuate mostly to Dallas.

That is very true. $9 at the door, but nowhere to stay.  :tflaugh

Master Collector just sent out an email saying they do not believe that Rita will have any impact on BotCon.  Isn't Dalla like 400 miles inland?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Something like that.

Edit: Its closer to 300 miles.

To put it into context the storm is a country awaym specifically the UK ;)

[Otto]Do you want to know what you'd be if not for us, the good ol' U. S. of A.? The smallest f*cking province in the Russian Empire![/Otto]

Who's chopper is this?

Hotels are packed already in Laredo which is located 300 miles from houston.  I can also imagine Dallas.

Actually, San Antonio is taking a hell of a lot of the slack.

On a different note, Texans as part of their biology, have no Powerglideing clue how to handle weather. If we get an inch of snow people here start clamorring for snow chains, even though they don't actually know what they look like. Either that or they just slide off the road headlong into a schoolbus full of blind nuns on their way to a fundraiser for the terminally ill children's ward. We suck. But don't ever tell us that because we totally all carry guns and ride horses bee-yatches.

BTW, a Wal-Mart in Flower Mound (about 15 miles from Frisco) has run out of bottled water because of panic from the storm. And yet we blame the high-Mexican content  for being the lowest ranked state in education scores.
