OMFG PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINIONS GHEYNUTZ

I'll give him credit for being Halloween colors, but he's still got a bit too much of the ah-nee-may about him.

:tflaugh "GHEYNUTZ"

THX

Honestly I haven't heard a single person say they hate this figure. It's just too beautiful.

I  know a regular around here who dislikes it.

(no not me  I love it)

is that really such a bad thing? anime-robots tend to have a better design than american cartoon robots.

i love the robots in shows like Patlabor, appleseed, escafolwne, etc... but those do not belong in TF lines IMO.  I think that Transformers should be practical in design, not aesthetic.  I mean, we don't have the flesh on our legs flaired out because boot cut looks are in style.  bad analogy maybe, but what my point is, is that these are thier bodies, not thier clothes.  They should be form functioning.  We should see thier bolts, paint dings, oil stains etc...  noisemaze, while working well in a power ranger style line, just doesn't say, Cybertronian to me.

There you go. That's what I was trying to say. All the traditional anime flourishes on the characters just look.... well they look ghey to me. I can't help it; it's just a gut-level reaction. Not every robot has to look like a metallic samurai, you know?

But then I suppose this is a losing argument, given the TFs' Japanese origins to begin with. But it does seem to me that the G1 figures avoided the traditional anime look. Why is that?

When I think Cybertronian (not Earth) robot modes, I think of anime-type styling. Maybe it's because TFs not based on Earth really don't need that "robots in disguise" feel to them. With this figure in particular, I think the robot mode has a nice mix of smooth and crisp lines and incorporates the alt mode kibble nicely during the transformation...I guess I don't really have a preconceived vision of how a robot should look. I think that's how I could grow to love beast-formers... :redface

And not every TF does look like a metallic samurai.  Noisemaze doesn't.  He looks more like a demonic black knight, to me.  And besides, didn't you just say a few posts ago that you thought that no TF recently has reached the quality of the RiD figures?  There's anime for you...

And not every TF has to be designed like a mass of shifting cubes, either.  It all depends  on the TF's personality, function, faction, etc.

The intention of Noisemaze's design is that he doesn't look traditionally Cybertronian.  It's supposed to add to his mysterious nature, in that you can't peg him down to originating from any particular planet.
