The classics of tommorow

Recommended Posts

Besides stuff that's already been said:

Red Exillion/Hot Shot repaint, Masterpiece Convoy/20th Ops, Super Link Galvatron G/Energon Galvatron, Black Convoy/RiD Scourge, JRX/Railracer, the SL/Energon combiners....

That's all I can think of at the moment.

any of the Alt's because of the quality of the pieces,

GF: Noisemaze, Soundwave, Optimus

Energon: Mirage, Slugslinger, Sharkticon

Armada: Unicron, Tidal Wave

just some of the ones i see being classic in the fututre. They show detail beyond what most TF's have shown and or they are fan faves.

Most people are going to disagree, but I'm betting that 20 years from now, RiD Megatron and GF Master Megatron are going to be considered classics.

Firstly, they are very unique, and I can see them being celebrated rather than condemed for that fact with time. Kind of like how Overlord and Deathsaurus are today.

That and GF Galaxy Convoy and RiD Omega Prime. Both really excellent examples of what a Prime toy can look like.

And of course, Unicron (Armada version) and Primus.

I agree with most of what is being said, especially with the Megatrons - it is the distinctiveness that will make a figure a classic.

Toy-wise? Unicron, Primus... All Primes/Megs/Galvs... That's pretty much it.

I really doubt a lot of the Primes can be considered classics. Just Armada and Energon alone, we see two of the crappiest toy/Optimus Primes ever.

Uni. Nemisis Prime, Energon Iron Hide, Uni. (armada) Ultra Magnus, all Alts. (yes, even windcharger... besides it takes 20 yrs for a car to be considered a "classic").

Hell you could almost say any figure that's not a scout.

One of the big questions is why are things classic - is it because of the toy, or is it because of the comic/tv version of the character?

I think some of the cooler Beast Wars characters are fastly on their way to being popular classics. Dinobot is one that definitely comes to mind.

BW show characters and the new molds in RiD.

Starscream has had the coolest molds in all 3 of the last series, so I can see him becoming a classic.

In fact if you look at any character that has been in at least 2 of the last 3 series, none have all great molds. Often the molds are good in one series and bad in another. Example: Optimus, Armada was just OK, Supercon Armada was pretty good, Energon was bad (unless combined), and Cybertron is great. Megatron, Armada was just OK, Energon was a great homage to G1 Galvatron, Cybertron is OK. But Starscream has been consistently great molds for Armada, Energon and Cybertron.
