Monsterbots: Bad ass?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at the monsterbot tech specs on www.tfu.info and saw that the monsterbots, while not very fast, seemed to have very high scores for courage, endurance and skill.  Were these guys ever considered to kick much butt outside of their tech specs?  I only recall seeing Repugnus appearing as a profile write-up in the back of a TF comic .

Does anybody know much of these guys outside of their original tech specs?  They seem a lot more hardcore than I thought of them as a child.

I don't remember them appearing anywhere (perhaps the 80s comic, i'm not too well versed in that), but they are quite badass.  The MTMTE profiles for them are pretty interesting.

I've always liked these guys. Their MTMTE write-ups (particularly Repugnus's) were excellent.

I liked Doublecross a lot.  The other 2 were meh.  They did come out in the japanese G1.

The monsterbots were great soldiers, like the Dinobots, but the other Autobots didn't typically like them as much. I think it dealt with them either being scary or having different methods.

That's certainly the impression I get from the tech specs.  Though I never thought to compare them to the Dinobots, but that makes perfect sense.  The concept seems like a way to cash in on the same success of the Dinobots  I don't see myself hunting done a Doublecross figure anytime soon though.

Repugnus has always been cool to me, I actually like the fact he doesn't transform much - he just shifts into a mod more suited for carving up the 'cons - that's specilization right there! :tfevil I keep getting the idea that these guys are sort of like ninjas or special agents, but that probably applies more to Grotesue and Repugnus.  Doublecross seems to suck a bit with his 'two minds'.

they were alright i guess. definitly one of the "forgotten in time" TF's. Its always nice to bring them up from the grave. (dont listen to this Hasbro)
