It dawned on me today that Mainframe/Hasbro made a mistake with the Forms of Depth Charge, Rampage and TM2 Megs

 

Depth Charge shoud have never been a transmetal-

WHY: He was not hit by the transwarp wave, so he should of had a realistic looking manta ray beast form. no Metal

 

Rampage shouldn't have been a Transmetal either, but, he might have taken on the form of a crab before the wave hit when his pod crashed landed, but we don't know

 

TM2 Megs should have never been a TM2!

WHY: When he took G1 Megs spark, He should have upgraded into a form like OP's, because he was not in the presence of the TM2 Driver

the toys' designs came first and then mainframe had to figure out how to work them into the show later on.

Depthcharge was hit w/ a transwarp wave when his ship traveled back in time.

TM2 Megs became a TM2 becuase he had been in the presence of the Driver prior to gaining his new body, unlike Op Op.

1: When Depth Charge hit the Event Horizon that made him pass through to the past, to the Beast Wars, he was hit by the Quantum particles that created that "Time-portal". Those same Quantum-particles existed in the Quantum SHockwave that Transmettalized the Earthbound Maximals and Predacons.

 

2: All the Pods that landed on Earth  were transmettalized. Most of them died. their Spark expired, but we know of atleast 2 others who survived: The Fuzors. Fuzors have Transmetals bodies. Proof: When the surge from the alien vessel hit the Maximals and the Predacons in Other Visits, the Normal Transformers stay in stasis-lock, but both the Transmetals and the Fuzors wake up from their slumber. Rampage was Transmettalized before he woke up, therefor him being a Transmetal is justified.

 

3: Megatron isn't a TM2, he is just listed as one in the toys. It was never stated that Megatron was a TM2 in the show. And even if he is: The Transmetalization process does not have to happen instantaniously. Cheetor's transformation to TM2 took some time, and the thing that triggered him was an emotional process. Megatron's change into TM2 could have been triggered by the combination of G1 Megatron's Spark, and the emotional shock of being betrayed by one he considered fairly trustworthy. I think that he had to let go of himself, let go of the control he always implemented over himself, and let the anger and rage loose, which may have triggered the TM2-proces.

 

As for G1 Megatron's spark and Prime's Spark: the 2 situations are actually quite different. Where Primal had Prime's Spark co-hosting his body, Megatron fused both his spark and G1 Megs' into one. And where Prime was overtaken by the Power of Prime's Spark, which resulted into the change of body to something more suitable for Prime's needs (Remember: Prime was used to a big body, and one with wheels, a grounded vehicle, where Primal was used to having a body that could also fly. Also, the Primal-Prime combination used words and a speech-pattern more like Optimus Prime than like Primal would use: Take the "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings, megatron" or "Let's transdform and roll out, Maximals!") Megatron was never overtaken by the power and Spark of the original, and kept himself in line.

all great points...just gonna add, that in the episode that depth charge arrives on his way to crash on the planet, he is glowing liek the bots did before they went transmetal

One other thing to keep in mind re: the Fuzors is that they were both transmetallized *and* had funky bodies b/c of the stasis pod malfunctions. So they weren't Transmetals in the exact same way that the others were (i.e. all-robotic alt mode, organically enhanced robot mode). Silverbolt had feathers and fur, but he also had metallic claws. Similarly, Quickstrike's cobra head was robotic, not organic. They were just a mix-up all over.

Tigerhawk is a TM2 becuse of his contact with the vok(the guys who created the TM2 Driver)

The scene was cut when it aired on television, but was included as a deleted scene in the last Beast Wars DVD box set.
