Getting a "wow" from the exclusives would lead to this response from the fandom:

 

"OMGWTFBBQ!!!! Why can't they make the current lines like that so we all can buy them!!! HASBRO SHOULD BURN!!!"

There's always someone who's going to be pissed about any decision Hasbro makes. It's like politics that way.

 

Personally, I think Hasbro should invest all of their FANSERVICING resources into these BotCon toys, since they *are* asking a lot of the fans. I don't think that's unfair. If that means that they're not widely available, then tough titties -- that's why they're exclusives.

I just asked this to my GI Joe fan friend and he replied that most of the time the redecos look bad and not special at all, he prefers the store exclsive GI Joe things

Yeah!....Err....I bought 2 sets. :redface

Look at it from this viewpoint:

 

It's not just a repaint, but a brand new head and chestplate. The head is a great homage to the org Japanese Deathzarus toy and we're getting a box set that--if anything  like the G.I.Joe toys--will be visually impressive as well.

 

And if that's not enough think about this: at least it's not Beast Machines Megatron. That toy just sucked from start to finish.
