Genesis: The art of Transformers

Recommended Posts

Hi. I was thinking recently about getting an artbook called Genesis: The art of Transformers. People who got it almost always said it's really worth buying and recomended it. But what is realy inside this book? I know only how it's cover looks, but I don't want to give money on it basing only on books cover.

So here is my question: Can anyone support me with example images of pages that are inside?

Thanks in advance :)

if i recall its has old concept art from G1 (pink chrome dome) and it has a few shots of old protos (arcee) and a basic guide but i think its all in japanese

While I can't show you what's inside it(due to a lack of scanner), I can tell you that Blitz is highly mistaken.  The book is a hard cover, 120 glossy page book, each page being an art.  Little text is present beyond a forward and an About the Author page, and of course artist credits.  The images range from Mainframe images(boring, and rather stock), to Pat Lee drawings(which aren't all completely out of proportion), Guido Ghidi(much love), among many others.  Save for a few pages, the book's art is a wonderful image collection.

My personal favorites include Ghido Guidi's famous "Predaking Lithograph", where Predaking easily takes on Superion and Defensor...Dan Khanna's lovely images of Straxus AND Jhiaxus(who thought THEY would get in this book?!)...Mark D Bright's clean(textless) version of his now FAMOUS cover for the Marvel Transformers comics issue 5(Are All Dead).

There's plenty of other images, but the book is highly G1 centered, and you might have seen the art elsewhere before(example: One page is the Omega Supreme attacking Decepticons fold out poster from Reissue Hound's book), and the book is too old to cover Energon and the like.  Recommended, IF you can find it at a fair price.

It sounds like something I`d like to see pictures from as well. If someone could post a few scans from it I`d greatly appreciate it.

Someone get this Guy a Scanner!!!  :tfgrin
