Galaxy Force Master Megatron= dissapointment!

Recommended Posts

As a completist I buy every new mold.

So I got Cybetron Landmine when I saw him in the store this week. He did not look all that great in the packaging but I did not even look all that hard because I was happy to have found him.  :clap

He turned out to be a really cool toys despite the fact that construction vehicles have been done to death. So pictures really do not do a Transformer justice.,

When I saw pictures of Megatron, I loathed him but decided to give him the chance he deserved. Well he just got it and failed!

He looks pretty cool and is posable. But what does that mean if his chest pops out everytime you move the arms?

The car mode is really cool but one of my nose halves is missing a piece so you see the minty green undercarriage. I will accept that as a fluke though a downer I will not really take into my arguments why he sucks.

Jetmode is rather lame. More like a Transmetal 2 altmode than a real third mode.

His weapon is also a huge dissapointment. They should just have left it as the wheel. Sadly they did not. Two out of 3 Cyber Key gimmics are lame or do not work. Only the turbines and the missiles are cool.

But the turbines are really too small for a Transformer of this size. The turbines of the Turbomasters are larger than this.

So in all I am rather dissapointed in Megatron. It is not so much the colors or the alt mode as I had initially feared, he actually looks cool if you do not see him as Megatron.

Sadly the execution left somewhat to be desired. I mean they could have hidden large cannons in the 2 Cyberkey compartiments. That really would have given Megs firepower.

Now all he has is only two missile launchers. Far less than Optimus Prime.  :tfsad

Add to that that this #$%$%! piece of trash does not even stand in robot mode.  :tdown  :tfmad

This scrapbot continously fall backwards unless I move legs but then he will look odd. He should just be able to stand normally in robot mode. The fact that he cannot makes him a really bad Transformer. :tdown

I certainly agree that the chest really ought to have been better designed. If you combine him with Liger Jack, the problem becomes even worse as it's held together only by one of those tiny pegs.

I do have to say that I like the arm blades. I also find the general aesthetic of the toy rather appealing and unusual, so I guess I still like him, but he has his problems.

One of those TFs that goes on the 'would be great but for...' list, unfortunately.

Sooooo, is this the Cybertron or Galaxy Force version? The complaints you have won't be different, but the quality might be.

Cybertron im guessing, by the fact hes calling the almighty force chips, cyber keys instead...

I've got mine this week and I LOVE him!!

He's just perfect! He can stand fine on his own and you can pose him in some very cool poses.

The Force Chip gimmicks are good, I like the Death Machine Gun, but the Claws are nice too!

The car mode looks cool too. The jet mode well...it's not bad, but it aint good either..

I really like him :clap

I like the Cy Megs and am far from dissapointed. I admit the ankles are frustrating but where there's a will there's a way. His legs are so articulated there's hardly a desire to stand him up straight but when I do want to do that, I just click one ankle forward and the other back. Budda bing, perfectly balanced. As long as you dont violently shake the surface he's standing on he wont fall but that goes for most action figures. What I am dissapointed in is the box says "Electronic Lights and Sounds". There are no lights and one Sound that I know of. Other than that, he's more posable than an Alternator and I love his color scheme in person.

Sooooo, is this the Cybertron or Galaxy Force version? The complaints you have won't be different, but the quality might be.

Cybertron version still has the tiny pegs.  I'm not sure where the stability issue is comming from tho.

stable? the dude has feet made from flat plane wings/spoilers so imo hes quite stable

i like the guy alot oh well differnt strokes for differnt fokes

It is the GF version I am referring to.

It is true that with a little creativity one can pose him. But I am looking for a neutral pose which takes up as little space as possible. With over 600 Transformers one needs to watch their space room.  :tftongue

(Which is why I display pretty much all my Transformers in robot mode even if some have a far better alt mode.)

That and the chest problem are my only issues with this toy in terms of quality. Toywise I think he could have had more weapons and the turbines are a little small.

But it is a very neat car mode indeed. Mine had that small defect but other than that it is really neat. And different.

GF Megatron has 2 sounds, the force chip and if you insert a missile and launch it then a 2nd sound will play. There is a light between both launchers but it is not all that visible.

The light on Galaxy Convoy is bright enough to blind me but I only noticed this after a few launches.  :tftongue

I like how this Megatron looks good both with horns up and down.  :tftongue
