Vector Sigma

Recommended Posts

Here's one for the fan boys to have fun with:

How does Vector Sigma fit into the integrated continuities, including G1 cartoon, comics, beast wars and beast machines.

For example, what is it's relationship to Primus? Did the quintessons build it? Why does it masquerade as "The Oracle" is beast machines?

Have fun  :tflaugh

Vecter sigma is Primus' Avatar, it can speak for him. Vecter Sigma provides sparks for his creations by acessing the Matrix Dimension wich is in realaty Primus himself. The Oricle is a Quint Shell Program.

Time for me to deliver an alternative view to XBob.

The Quintessons landed on Cybertron and built a factory on it. Logic would indicate that in order to have a stable empire, the Quintessons would have to have more than just 1 factory planet, it doesn't make sense otherwise.

Whether the planet was already there as a rock, or was Primus in stasis doesn't really matter. The fact is that Primus existed as a myth by the time Beast Wars occurred, therefore it is likely that Primus existed as a dormant energy source on Cybertron. Perhaps there is even a room where you can go and see his head. Cybertron is a big place, and the Cybertrons kept finding new crap there all the time, even though they had been living there for 12 million + years.

Vector Sigma would have been the computer that the Quintessons installed, which was used to program new units after production to fit whatever role they needed. It is my belief that other "Vector Sigmas" exist on the Quintessons other worlds. This is to be keeping with standardisation (like ISO 9000!) So how did Vector Sigma get so powerful then? It is unlikely that the Quintessons could have created a godlike computer and still be lowly in the universe, because if they had, then they would have had others on their other worlds.

No this makes me think that the energy of the Ancient One Primus had an effect on its workings. It is likely that early settlers of Cybertron had found Primus or parts of him, and recorded their findings in Vector Sigma. A lot of information was lost on Cybertron, and we know this because the Autobots kept finding old things that were used by their ancestors. And the fact that the Autobots didn't know about the uprising against the Quintessons or that they were the creators at all.

So what about the Oracle? Well we know that Vector Sigma is somewhere near the center of Cybertron. It isn't IN the center since that is where the "organic core" is. I see the Oracle as being terminals to Vector Sigma that were built further out from the chamber it sat in. As the planet had gotten larger with new construction, the Vector Sigma chamber would have been harder to get to in a timely fashion. So terminal interfaces would have been constructed that were connected with Vector Sigma in some way. That way they could have fast access to it.

Of course this would mean that other "Oracles" would still exist somewhere on Cybertron. And as time progressed, and the Cybertrons revolted, just because the Quintessons had built the computer system, does not mean they would have not used it. So it is my idea that the computer systems seen on the surface are all part of the same network that the Oracle and Vector Sigma are a part of. Those surface computer systems such as Infocore. And the god power would not extend to them with such power as The Oracle because they would be further away from the center. And this would explain how the relatively new characters in Beast Wars would know about Primus.

That is my take anyways.

Beast Machines was supposed to take place eons after G1. That's why the Maximals considered even the Oracle to be a legend, to say nothing of Vector Sigma itself. You also get that sense of ancient history when Primal and Nightscream travel to Iacon City.

At any rate, it's pretty obvious that Vector Sigma and the Oracle are one and the same. I would guess the simplest reason for this change is simply that Vector Sigma evolved along with all the other TFs on Cybertron over time. Plus, if you recall, in G1 only Megatron and Alpha Trion recognized Vector Sigma on sight. It clearly wasn't something that Cybertronians saw a lot of.

The Orivle is a Quint shell Program, it sez so in Wreckers #3
