Because by law your friend signed the agreement with their company to not talk about the internal going's on at work.

Possibly. NDAs haven't actually become automatic, even in the US.

They'd still be liable for breach of copyright, of course. As is any site with the animation sheet hosted. I'd suggest using an external location personally... Rackshack are in the US, aren't they? Or do they just hold the DNS?

define copyrighted material

What I think you mean is "specify the sort of stuff that's likely to see the site vanish with a takedown notice".

As I stated ;)

they can, in reality, do squat, for example in Russia there is no copyright laws regarding digital media, that means pics, music or anything it would not be much of a bind in todays age to start hosting sites on russian based servers and companies what may force such moves would lose a lot of goodwill.  Its very sticky ;)

I know you did mention the USA ;)

its most likely in the US but its irrelevant Hasbro in particular will not touch this either as someone high there used to indulge in this themselves ;) I suspect they wouldnt want to open that can of worms

The eBay auction was bogus. I got a PM from the highest bidder. He never got any pics to begin with.

Dude, are you sitting in a cockpit of 20 computers real-time monitoring every thing that happens in the world with Transformers?

I'm still wondering how a rule like such is possible...

13. No Posting of Uncolored Prototypes - We understand that seeing new toys for the first time is exciting, but please refrain from posting uncolored prototypes or test shots.

...yet clearly the frontpage of this website has the images.

Not starting anything, just trying to make some sense of the thin red line.

[edit] It's not a testshot... it's actually legally more problematic, as far I understand the situ. [/edit]

As I stated
Asking someone to "define copyright material" has been a bit redundant since the Berne Convention.

Orson used to make a habit of publishing animation models?

Not that it matters in the slightest—Archer is in a position to authorise reproduction of some materials and to pass on some other information; that he's still with the company demonstrates some latitude for this. It in no way communicates license to anyone else for unchecked publishing.

no he published unauthorised intellectual property

perhaps not but its somewhat hypocritical and and if it came to an industrial tribunal Hasbro would be at a disadvantage

Im not arguing the point merely illustrating how sticky things are for hasbro, they are sticky enough anyway as the burden of proof can be a tricky thing.  Just playing devils advocate as both sides should always be considered before making an informed decision.

If we're not going to talk about the Primus fig, let's lock this topic :lock

I didn't keep up with Orson's World, but I'd probably agree on the hypocritical bit... don't know what he passed on, though—stuff can be authorised at one level but not another, higher-ups take offence only after the fact, etc.

Can't forsee any situation in which Hasbro would fail to have a solid case.

Hmm... large figures. What do people see as being the potential market for anything of this size and cost?

and yet people still get huge payouts for the most spurious reasons, a half bright lawyer can make a company cry and if nothing else make them expend a large chunk of time and resources

Judging on the apparant disposable income available to western children today, almost all of them :wtf wasnt like that when i was a kid

primus seems cool but I'm going to wait and see what the toy will be like.
