I've been noticing that it seems like right now there is an out break of G1 MISBs on e-bay.  Does any body know if it is easy to reseal a ORIGINAL G1 toy without it being detected.  For example if you sent it in to afa, would they be able to detect it? I don't know exactly how the afa graders inspect but I wonder if they have like a special black lite to see miss matched tape resin or if they can tell if it's different tape from the original tape.  I just bought an original G1 MISB recently (hasn't arrived yet) and I'm a little worried about getting ripped off cuz I spent alot of money on it. Can anyone comment?

There was a rash of G1 looking toys of bad quality and their boxes had Chinese characters on it. Hasbro claims they are official Hasbro products (just because it says Hasbro on it) but the boxes look quite different from the original Chinese release of the toys. If you happen to get one of these, the jury is still out on them, since all we have is speculation and no official answer forthcoming from Hasbro.

 

You'll just have to post some pics of it when you get it, then we can make a determination or give opinions, and hope you used a credit card if it turns out to not be as advertised.

I never buy MISB GeeWuns over ebay.  MISP in ebay yes but not MISB.  MISP like Quake.

i always ask for macro high end pics of the toys ends and plastic and all, 90% of the time it newer tape, remember g1 toys are 20 years old, so if the box shows any sign of wear, more than likely the tape will show the same wear.

THis is an original Optimus we are talkin about. OH GOD! I hope it is not retaped I'll $#!+ my pants if it is.  can afa tell these sort of things and if so how?

afa is a profesional orginazation, it's what they do. They have records and specialist that can tell all this stuff.

knowing I'm the first to open something gives me a bit of a rush.  I never understood the appeal of keeping something MISB for 20 years.

I liken it to a morbidly obese person with a collection of vintage MISP candy bars.
