I do think it's incredibly Outback whining over a few cents, particualrly when so many sellers in the fields I buy already make a huge profit on what they sell.

Not to mention the fact that paypal and credit cards have always gone hand in hand, and whether it's fair or not, you don't have one without the other.

In the business world, people cover costs like these by selling their items at a higher price.

Do the same, it's that simple.

Or stop taking paypal and lose out on hundreds of potential buyers and all their money.

In all fairness, some of us *DO* adjust the cost to include the fees so we're not charging extra. Get your facts straight before making a blanket judgement on a bunch of people you don't know from a hole in the ground.

It was asked if PayPal charges should be added. Some said yes, some said no. It's a simple yes or no question. Everyone (including my original post) drug it out.

Oh and Family Video (which is a nationwide chain) requires a $10.00 minimum purchase/rental before allowing your card to be used. Or they'll rent you your videos, and take the rest of the $10.00 and credit it to your account because it costs them and other business so much for the banking transactions.

Good business practice or not, it's a done deal. Deal with it.

I'm done with this thread.  If anyone wants to save money on paypal fees, stop by my sale thread.  I'm not even charging for shipping if orders are over $20.  A few nickels won't break me.  You guys enjoy your debate. :wave

free shipping! where was this when i ordered like $300 from you! :D jk gz...wheres my skullcruncher :D

I say that as a seller, you are acting as a store, and as such, stores (businesses) incur overhead fees from time to time.  This is one of them.  Plus, you will definitely attract more buyers when they see you do this courtesy.

I never charge a fee for the things I sell.

(well, a paypal fee.)

Just repeating myself:

It depends really.

If I'm selling stuff on eBay, I set the starting price at:

Price I payed for item + Listing fees cost + Final price fee (if it sells for the starting price) + 4% PayPal costs.

It sounds like alot, but I only put stuff on eBay that I get for really cheap so I don't make any profit at all if it sells for the starting price. On the other hand, I don't lose money either.

This means the starting price still ends up lower than all the "scalpers" on eBay and if I make any money, it's a nice bonus.

I don't jack-up the prices on items just because they're rare or hard to find, that's up to the bidders.

As for selling stuff on here, I would add PayPal charges. This is because I would sell the stuff for:

Price I payed for item + Postage to get item to them + 4% (but ONLY if they want to use PayPal.)

I wouldn't want to make a profit by selling anything to a fellow fan. However, I wouldn't take a hit in my own pocket if they payed through PayPal.

At the end of the day it's up to the seller to make the choice, but also to inform the buyer. Slapping PayPal charge on top of a done deal isn't on, but if the buyer is made aware prior to agreeing to the deal they shouldn't Starscream about it.

....you're kidding me. This bitchfest is still going? Gah.

hmmm i dont know...i dont use paypal for those reasons...but since im the kind of guy that will go buy someone on this board something that they need if its around my area and not theres....i make them pay for shipping and everything....but i will also include the receicpts and everything so they know they are getting what they are paying for.....i dont charge anything for myself...but i wont say no to something for myself on the same note...but i voted no...because thats what you are choosing to use as payment
