Tightening G1 Megatron joints

Recommended Posts

This may not belong in repaints/kitbashes, but I'm planning to do some painting of this figure too, so I'm not sure.  I apologize if it's the wrong section.

I recently purchased a knockoff G1 Megatron.  Wouldn't have bothered except I have never owned a G1 Megatron before.  This one is actually very nice in some respects -- lots of die cast metal -- but a lot of the joints are loose right out of the package.  In particular he has problems standing up, and his head/arms mechanism don't stay forward in robot mode well.

Has anyone had experience in tightening joints on this figure?  I might try the nail polish technique but I'm not sure that some parts (legs, for example) even come apart with screws.

Any advice for this specific figure is appreciated.

he can be disassembled pretty easy... just keep up with where the pieces go.

not sure about tightening joint... ty nailpolish, or superglue, but make sure the joints aren't togehter when glueing... :D

It's a more amateur method, but on both Megatron and Astrotrain, I tightened the legs up with paper.  I've used scotch tape before as well. [edit - after disassembling the legs by taking the screws out, I mean.]  Both methods work okay, especially if you are mainly displaying them and don't transform them alot.  On the plus side, it's easier and quicker than waiting for paint to dry layer after layer.  And it can always be redone if transforming degrades the paper over time, without having to do anything to the toy that might devalue it.  (not that it matters on a KO...)

is that the megatron ko version where there is red on the legs and such....aka the argentina version i think.

To tighten joints, try Lock-tite glue. It's manufactured by the same people who make super glue. Just be careful with this stuff; it can permanently glue megatron together if you're not careful about where you put it!

I ordered mine everyone had better hurry up and order one because I`ll bet that if they aren`t all already gone they soon will be. And we all know that Hasbro won`t be rereleasing an official one any time soon.

I cant believe how much crap that guy sed in the description.
