Which one was Optimus Prime beforehand and does anybody have any pictures of him so I can kitbash my spare Masterpiece Prime?  Sorry if this is in the wrong spot but it looked like the best place to ask. :tfmad

Orion Pax became Optimus Prime in the cartoon thanks to Alpha Trion.

Optronix became Optimus Prime in the Dreamwave Comics continuity after the Council of Elders chose him and endowed him the Matrix from the fallen Sentinel Maximus (I think that was the name...)

I personally don't like the cartoon origin and I don't really like the looks of Orion Pax...

But Optronix was a less meaty version of War Within Prime...and would probably make a good Alternator.  I think TFMaster from Transtopia made an Optronix out of the Meister mold...and it looked bad@$$!

Optronix (War Within Optimus Prime...but close enough...):

in dreamwave, optimus's predacessor was sentinel prime

any pics of him?

I don't think we actually ever got to see Sentinel Prime in action...

There is a panel where Megatron is holding the charred and burnt head of Sentinel Prime.

He had a blue helmet...I remember that...

Nope, that wasn't Sentinel Prime.
