who would want to be leader

Recommended Posts

let's put aside the tired old argument over who would make the best leader, the real question is who would actually want to be leader? magnus and rodimus where always going on about how they didn't want to be leader. suppose prime died before selecting a heir for the matrix and the autobots would have to decide for themselves who would be leader. are there any G1 autobots who would actually want to take prime's place as opposed to whining all time abour how they don't want to be leader? and suppose the only willing volunteer was Grimlock(who did show a desire for leadership previously) or some one else who was equally unqualified for the job, would any of the autobots who are more qualified put aside their personal opinions about not wanting to be leader and accept the mantel of leadership for the sake of the autobots?

My vote would go to Smokescreen!!!!! Why? Because his BT mode is kick ass and he happens to be next to Prime my favorite Autobot!

That's an interesting question.  Ironhide maybe?  (Only maybe, and only if it were in order to prevent a less qualified candidate, and he would probably have to be nominated first...but I doubt it would be because wanted to lead)  And that's just a guess.  They never really made that many of them out to be leadership material.

In the cartoon, Ironhide was the only one who was willing to take

charge when Prime wasn't around (The Search for Alpha Trion)

& the episode when Megatron made a clone of Prime and both Primes

were claiming to be the real one until Ironhide said "until we find out

who the real Prime is, I'll be giving the orders".  The only problem

with Ironhide is he was too small.  To be leader of the Autobots, you

must be strong enough to fight Megatron & Galvatron in hand to hand

combat.  Grimlock could match his strength, but is dumb.  Comic book

Grimlock would be a good choice, I heard he was smart.

This brings us back to Magnus & Rodimus, the only ones in the toon

who could defeat Megatron & Galvatron.

Hotrod

Prowl?

I think you've got to look at which of the Autobots in the Transformers Universe who has the strength, the intelligence, the skill, the size, the charisma, the ambition, and the drive to become leader first (a very small pool, unfortunately,) and then from that point on, a candidate can be chosen. Off the top of my head, gestalts aside, Grimlock, Jetfire, Sky Lynx, Ultra Magnus, Wreck Gar, Hot Rod, and Springer are the forerunners for me. Of those listed, I think only Grimlock and Sky Lynx have the ambition for leadership. Of those two, Sky Lynx has the intelligence, so I'll go with Sky Lynx.

I wanted to say Countdown and Pretender Grimlock, but Countdown is a tiny little guy and Pretender Grimlock isn't that much smarter than his previous incarnation.

bumblebee, that would be friggin' hilarious. But seriously i think ironhide or smokescreen, they're awesome characters and worthy leaders.

Maybe Springer? Just a thought, I always thought he was cool and he seemed like he might have stepped up to the plate if needed.

I'd say Ironhide. A little hot-headed from time to time but was a decent pick. Otherwise, Springer. Good well-rounded character.
