Question on some subjects.

Recommended Posts

Ok, as announced in the Paints question post, I am beginning work on changing Landquake into an Ultra Magnus. With Magnus being a kind of Cybertronian roll back towtruck. Now my questions are as follows.

1: Is there any way I can get a textured feel to the roll back section of it? (ie the rivets and sections of metal)

2: Should I paint the roll back part as if it were bare metal (aged of course) or make it the same color as the rest of the section? (i can't make my mind up on this)

3: Any tips on remolding the head to make it more Ultra Magnus?

4: Should I still make (the "trailer") able to Power Link with him and the rest of his kind? (ie Landmine, Landquake, Bulkhead, and Quickstrike)

please, I need your help on those four. I haven't done textures before, and using paint to make it look that way is tacky in my opinion.

heading over to the local hobbyshop. they might..i repeat might have a rollback towtruck model. if they do i might just skip the building my own and use it. I don't want to, but it might be easier (the place i live now is small so my work station is about the size of two end tables placed side-by-side.

Okay, I think I can help:

1) different aftermarket companies manufacture add-on bolts and such for model kits, or you can simply replicate these by using the tip of an xacto knife to lightly denote these bolts. As for panels, you can mask different areas off and spray then slightly different shades, or scribe panel lines lightly with an xacto knife blade. Remember to use a straight-edge for this.

2) try a mock-up to see which you'll like better.

3) use dremel-tool to grind away what isn't magnus, and then utilize sheet an strip-styrene to rebuild the head as you see fit. Use devcon plastic welder to hold it together, as well as to build -up areas on the head. then it's a simple matter of grinding and sanding it to shape. Then just add paint, and you're all set.

4) once again, that you'll have to test out to answer that question.

If you need any further assistance, Trailbreakimus prime, just post your questions in th Idiot's Guide To Kitbashing (IG2KB), located at the top of this forum.

hope this helps you out!!
