Battered boxed E-Hobby from eBay, what do I do?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just want to ask for some advice, basically I treat E-Hobby figures as expensive collectables, I mean aren't there only 1000 made of each one or something? So when comes along I grab it, I've seen the kind of prices Sunstorm goes for nowadays on eBay so I'm really happy now I brought mine for $35 (ex p+p) back when he was first released... so when the chance to buy The Cobalt Sentry figures came up I grabbed my chance, only thing is the guy I brought them off didn't take the time to protect them very well at all, subsequently the box was delivered in c8 condition AT BEST!

I told the guy I wasn't happy and he offered me $10! So basically I want to know what any of you would do if you were in my situation. I'll attach some images of the damage below, many thanks in advance!

Since I'm not a MISB collector it wouldn't have bothered me much. I would just be a little frustrated since I do keep the boxes.

same here

i had the same thing with my BT hound but i got him cheap so i was not to fussed. so IMO get it open them up and have fun seeing as the toys are unharmed

OK here's what I would do

Open the package and take the toy out and play with it

because thats what we secretly all want anyway

do it in private if you are embarassed...  sort of like masterbation

but like my councilors told me its perfectly OK and normal

then take the box and pee on it to show that you are free of the bindings of cardboard

then go to your room (or den or whatever)

and take all the other Transformers out and play with them

Dont worry I think you can sell the boxes to MISB people on Ebay

Open it, play with them, buy another one MISB from another dealer.  Winnar!

There's a way to repair a box that's been slightly crushed like that - but I don't recall the specifics. I'm sure some more dedicated MIB collectors can help with that. Remember, it's just cardboard.. so it's pressed material anyway.

If you can straighten out the top crease, though, you're set. I don't think the damage is so severe to worry about it.

lol. cheers fellas. althought I've not played with my Transformers in over a decade now. they just sit on my shelf looking pretty :) so basically as collectors, the damage on that box wouldn't bother you much?

Corner damage is expected to some degree. Like I said, the only thing that /might/ concern you is the crush on top - but that's repairable. I just... don't remember how to do it.

Well I'm a MISB collector and I would actually be pretty mad but that's also a chance you have to take when you buy stuff through the mail. You're best bet is to buy another set from BigBadToyStore where you can pick out the way you want your item packaged.

But I'd do it real soon cuz Joel will go up on his prices again very soon as seen in the past

Honestly I wouldn't open any of my E-hobby items or other exclusive Transformers just because like you said, look at Sunstorm and even Hauler. Even though the package has a little damage, you could still sell them in the future at a pretty good price, like on EBAY  :tflaugh1
