Once again, I find myself agreeing with you.  When the movie comes, what will we most likely see?

 

- Tons of new fans.  I think it's safe to say that there WILL be a spurt of growth in the online Transformers Community.

- With new fans we'll get lots of newbie type posts on how TF's are cool and start repeating threads that have been done to death but only now it's because of newbs.

- More fans is a good thing, but I think we all should start preparing for their arrival.  Once they starting coming, boards will be overrun by the newbs.  It's great that the fandom will have the ability to grow with a movie, but need to prepare for it.

- Like Madhammer said, we need to be ready for flaming.  The movie will NOT live up to everyones expectations, so we must be ready to live through it.

- Accept ALL new fans.  To some, this is difficult.  But we must accept all new fans.  The fandom will see a spike in membership, whether the movie does good or bad (there will still be a spurt of growth because a lot of people will 're-find' their inner child when the ads for the movie start hitting TV.)

True enough, but remember the cut off date of June 1st. That's when the script will be locked down and changes will not be made, no matter how much the fans whine and beg.

 

So there's a real push NOW for people to get their voices heard before it's too late. Particularly as Don's intending to sit down with Bay ASAP to talk about fan concerns.

The most relevent movie news is:

 

"Michael's team of peeps are discussing DP and Prod Designers so it looks like he IS coming on and hopefully this week we will close his deal and start finalizing things.  Once I get the chance, I am gonna make a big push for  the voice actors.

Tuesday should be lunch with Bay's line producer and I will report when I can.

 

ON Last week's thread I tried hard to answer EVERY question and managed to until about page 29.  This week I'll likely answer NO questions because I don't know anything new since last week. I DO know that TF will have a big presence at San Diego ComiCon and if I am not on Cool Breeze I will be there answering alt form weird questions."

 

On a more personal note, Don gave an update on his wife's progress:

 

"Many thanks for those who expressed concern and stuff for Susan my amazing wife.  Test results indicate that it is/was atopic dermatitis which is treatable and Blot.  One shot of cortisone cleared it up but we are taking it easy with her till we see where it all goes.  But sincere thanks to those who cared.  It was pretty scary Blot there for a few days."

I just added the newbs part because it is likely to happen, and most likely will cause lots of flaming BECAUSE of the movie.

Did Flame Wars take place before or after Beast Wars?

DM may be what he is, but people really need to appreciate the fact he's even trying to listen to what some of the fans want.

 

I honestly thin kwe need to worry about Hasbro's input into this because if anything, their the ones who are REALLY going mess it up. sorry, but the fact they wanted Soundwave to turn into something musical and mass shift EVEN IF IT MADE NO SENSE really worries me. Can you imagine what Ravage, Lazerbeak, or Rumble would like like if they were CD's? How about Soundwave being a CD player and then transforming into a 10' robot onscreen? Anyone else think that would look Powerglideing ridiculous?  :tdown

 

I really worry about what Hasbro is going to request be put in and made design wise just to sell merchandise....

 

Personally, I think they need to make as many changes as possible to NOT make it G1. I think if we got a live action G1 cartoon, we'd all be in alot of trouble.

 

Alot of people are going to be dissapointed. Alot of people are gong to be happy, but if this one doesn't succeed, we'll probably never see another TF movie again. If they have to sacrifice the "feelings" of some, so be it. I just don't want thing to turn into another Godzilla or worst yet, Street Fighter. Anyone remember that abomination?

HunterRose and Madhammer - you've both made some great points, and I gotta say, are two of the more intelligent posters here.  (not a knock on anyone else.  much love!)

 

MH - about people infinitely dissecting Don's every word, breath and fart.  That's why i read Don's posts and no one else's.  I agree with ya a hundred percent...

Cmon folks...do we really want the movie to be tied THAT close to a show where writers deemed it possible to DRIVE TO AFRICA from the US?
