well, at least my alternate theory removes the religious terminology from the spark concept. some fans tend to get their panties in a brunch over the spark=soul concept so my theory makes it seem more sci-fi than metaphysical.

however, its the same thing, just different phrasing.

well, the trick is with those people, either to stop wearing panties, or just live with the bunchies.

however, if your wanting to remove the religion from the mythos, can we spell Unicron's title as Dark Ghod instead?

:tflaugh

you know, what really qualifies Unicron for Dark God status? yes, he's really powerful but he's not exactly omnipotent.

he would have been if it wasnt for primus trapping him in an asteroid, at least according to the comics. a god doesnt have to be omnipotent to be one. a god is just a being thats higher than us, but by how much it is debatable and being a living planet he certainly is.

I can see your point, Hornet, and I'll use an episode of BW to back up my point. You can already tell which ep it is.

When Starscream invades Waspinator's body, his personality overrides Waspinator's -- with two sparks in the same body, and Starscream's spark being dominant, he maintains his G1 persona whereas Waspinator is not conscious of what's going on, or so we'd assume. So we can assume that a TF's body is just a vessel for their consciousness/being, if this is the case.

on a side note, Why didn't Waspinator become Optimal Waspinator when SS possessed him?  That would've been freaking awesome!

my guess is because the writers where not thinking that far ahead at that point. i tend to just ignore that episode due to continuity clashes.

and besides, would waspinator's up-grade have been all that different from his transmetal toy?

I'm not a fan of how the writers didn't try to work it in with the G1 continuity better, but it's still a good example of how a spark retains the memories, mind, etc. of a Transformer.

Unicron devoured everyhting and couldn't be destroyed in any conventional way. Plus his power was all-but limitless. Only Primus and his children could fight and eventually beat Unicron. If Unicron had won initially, in the Comics, we'd have no TF's.
