Jetfire: Autobot Leader?

Recommended Posts

I kinda liked the way he was coming across in the DW comics until...well, until the event that I still believe killed the comic, at least it did for me.

Certainly killed him. :tflaugh

Regardless, I like Jetfire. He isn't another bloody truck. He's not a typical, perfect leader who can do no wrong. He can bust heads when he needs to. He's also Autobot through and through, compared to others (Like Grimlock, who is a borderline nutbar at times). Overall, I'd certainly welcome it.

I doubt it'd happen, though. We're in for more Optimi and Rodimi for a long time, folks.

Would have been funny, then Go-bots and TF's would have even more in common.

Well, jetfire would make a good leader....., but the G1 jetfire. I don't like him for some reason......

I'd see a leader jetfire a little like a hotrod/rodimus thing without all the sucking. He would be rash and hot-headed some times, but when it mattered he would be a basic prime. Wise, and clever leading and gaining support from his troops. While still being able to do the things primes do, protect humans no matter the cost and etc.

G1 Jetfire is more of a scientist than a leader but Armada Jetfire was (in the comics) a very decent leader and I think he could have led.

A leader should have many qualities. He of course must be a good fighter and a good tactician. But he should also be able to look further and make long term plans or anticipate enemy movements. Beast Wars Megatron always had a backup plan and a good leader must anticipate that.

And of course a leader must be willing to lead and be ready to make hard sacrifices. In a war there will be casualties though the Autobots are certainly well aware of that.

But most importantly a leader must have charisma and be loved by his followers. That is why Starscream could never lead because his comerades do not like him. Optimus on the other hand inpsires Autobots (and humans) to no end and is a perfect leader.

Ultra Magnus has the same qualities but he has no faith in himself and he does not really like to lead. But when nessecary he does make a good leader.

But after Transformers the movie I doubt anyone but Prime will be leader.

Jetimus Prime

Jetfirumus Prime

Or Would it be Jetfire Prime or Sky Prime?

Skymaster Prime.

Jetprime

Jet the prime once known as jetfire. :tfevil :tfdance :tfdance :tfdance

Jet/Skyfire should be the next in the MP line

sure, they'll never kill Prime again, but what if a new continuity started that never had an Optimus Prime? That would be doable.

Yes, but the odds of us getting a TF series without Prime/Megatron is unlikely in the extreme. The best chance we had as Energon, but even then Megs showed up in the end.

Before I read the first comicbook issue, I always thought Prime was merely the captain of the Autobot ships and therefor, by default, the leader of the Earth bound Autobots. When "Ultimate Doom" aired, I was convinced we would be seeing the real Autobot leader, Jetfire. Jetfire was the Autobot leader according to the Dutch techspec's and in that small comic book. They also renamed Prime Jetfire in the Dutch comics.

In the regular US Marvel comics, There were many issue where Prime wasn't the Autobot leader (and Megatron not the Decepticon leader). I often copied that when I played with my TF's (back in the 80's).

I wouldn't mind another to step in as Autobot leader in a next series. Another name, another look and another alt. I somhow doubt it will be a new personality. It would be weird if you had someone like G-1 Skyfire (or A/E Jetfire) as leader while Optimus would also be there. Even if they choose to go with a new leader (with Prime just a follower), I think they'd give the new leader the same personality (good fighter/tactician/charismatic etc..) as Optimus always had. No real big change.
