so what;s the deal with voice actors?

Recommended Posts

do studios still let voice actors voice more than one main character in the same cartoon or do they now use a different voice actor for each character?

I think that, as with actors, the more they do, the more compounded thier pay becomes. It's not just as simple as, "if you work 4 hours you get paid this" It's, has to do with what you do. So if you have someone who gets paid $2,000 per episode to voice one character, and $5,000 to voice two, you would hire a second person so you would save the $1,000.

Not to mention, it's not hard to tweak a voice here & there to make it sound different for different characters.

but surely it would be cheaper to have one voice actor doing several voices.

It must be, how many did Frank Welker do for G1? Megs, Soundwave, Rumble and Frenzy, Ravage, Skywarp, Galvatron, Mixmaster...

i don't know. if that was the case then why didn't whichever company made armada have one guy do all the voices for the minicons instead of reducing them to beeping idiots? hell, GF has only 4 minicons so far and still, only one of them talks.
