Just scored what I believe is a complete, near mint Magnaboss set, with some other loose, complete BW figs, in a cheap lot on Ebay. My questions regarding Magnaboss are:

 

1. Was he ever featured in the American show?

2. Was there a Hasbro version as well as a Takara version, and if so what were the differences?

3. What is a near mint, complete Magnaboss worth, and is it a rare item?

 

I'll post pics if necessary for help in identifying, but it basically looks just like the one in Autobot Loki's sig. I'm asking the second question mainly because the one shown in the catalog that came with my Takara Lio Convoy has different paint colors, and more paint apps overall, leading me to believe that the one I have would be a Hasbro version. Unless the catalog shows a prototype, which was altered before final release. Thanks in advance for any info...

Magnaboss was never on the American show.

Yeah, it appears I have the original, Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt Magnaboss. I guess That will be the Hasbro version, then. Any idea on value?

Whoa, the Takara version ownz the Hasbro one.

The Takara version has Lio Junior, who was a clone of Lioconvoy and a pretty awesome toy/character, methinks. We got Lio Junior recolored as Prowl, with a yellow head rather than a blue one, but if you look you can see the head sculpt has a definite convoy-thing going on. I really want a Takara Magnaboss.

All I know is that the leader from the Japanese Beast Wars II combiner team was named Lio Junior and he was Lio Convoy's protegé. I've got the u.s. version, too, and have the Beast wars II catalog with pictures of the Japanese version, and I can say that the u.s. version has way fewer paint apps and paint detailing, but is otherwise the same.
