The bits and pieces that Murphy has dropped on his web site would seem to indicate that the Matrix is kind of like the Ark of the Covenant (as depicted in Raiders of the Lost Ark, at least) in this sense: both factions are trying to find it before the other one does. It's probably some source of power, life, bla bla bla, etc. Some really important relic thingy that got lost and is discovered by humans, and the TFs find out about it.... and so on. That's partially speculative, but it seems to be the general direction they're thinking of.

Well in the marvel comics Prime used the creation matrix to give life to Jetfire, Omega Supreme, the Aerialbots and inadvertantly the Stunticons so perhaps they could use it in a similar fashion.

it should have an evil purpose that the autobots never intended.... they think its going to save them but once they crack it open it rips a hole into the space n time, gathers tf's from different eras and we get TFU and nemesis prime... exactly what we'll need for a sequal

its probably what was used to give life to new transformers in the begining, and since the war has pwned everyone they need it to make new troops.

Hey, the ark of the convenant, melted people's faces, and made Belloq explode.

Speaking of which, I wonder what '80's revisioned' characters, are going to die like a Starscream, in the crapwoman sequal...er.. I mean TF MOVIE.

Thats really something thats going to stick in peoples craw. heh heh.
