Today's Daily goes Primal with a look at the most humble and arguably attractive of the official released Beast Machines Optimus Primal toys. Not because the McDonald Happy Meal premium (shown right) was so good, more because the mainline toys didn't resemble the TV show character as well as they could have. The deluxe Heroic Maximal Optimus Primal figure (shown leff) hardly looked like the TV show character at all. Fortunately, the Blast Punch and Air Attach Optimus Primal figures were progressively better.

1999 wasn't much of a party for Transformers. The Beast Machines cartoon that was expected to continue the Beast Wars was not quite what it seemed. The heart pumping action taking place exclusively on Cybertron really shook things up.
