Here's another idea. Leader-1 is back in jet mode and his back story is this:

 

A former Renegade Decepticon turned Autobot leader. He was repulsed by the Renegade Decepticons' relapse into evil when Cy-Kill re-fashioned the Renegades into a terrorist faction of Decepticons. He wears an Autobot emblem that is purple in color in order to remind the renegades what they should aspire to be.

 

The Renegade Decepticons were originally a faction of Decepticons that broke off and worked towards peace between Autobot and Decepticons. However, old corruption and feuds conspired to fracture this team of seeming do-gooders. Now, even the Decepticons shun the Renegades as nihilistic zealots and a barrier to the Decepticons' push to Cybertronian rule.

 

A good way to ID Renegades is a laser etched stylized R "tatoo" on their faces and "tatoos" on their bodies and chassis.

Actually, I wouldn't color that. I'd probably draw a better finished piece (and I plan on it). Right now this is just a character sheet in sketch form (since I already posted the backstory here). I'll see what i can do with it once I have all the details worked out.

 

I just love reimagining stuff like this. Getting something that wasn't too popular to begin with but did have huge potential and doing a "The Dark Knight Returns" on it.

Yeah. I thought about that. I'll see what I can do. He is supposed to be a motorcycle so he can't be too wide in vehicle mode (but then again he was wide as a Go-Bot toy anyway). Unfortunately that makes him look kind of skinny and tall in robot mode. Then that gave me the idea of having him look like a skinny tatooed tough biker dude in robot mode. So, it's like the body types of Indian Larry vs Paul Toutle Sr. Which one do you go for? I'll tweak the look.

 

And then it's should I make him look like an Terran bike or a Cybertronian bike. With a Terran bike you don't have much to work with if it's a chopper and a crotch rocket is just a lame non-progressive design (that's what he was to begin with and I thought he was kinda lame then). So I thought I'd go with a cross between the two. And then if it's a Cybertronian bike then the sky's the limit in design. I can make him look as alien as I want.

cool, maybe you could somehow work in to your bio that cy-kill is a rejected junkion, or maybe even reformated by them. I say this becuse your redesign of him reminds me a lot of the wreckgar toy, and the flames remind me of his cartoon version.

Actually, the Gobots ARE in the Transformers mythos now:

These are GENUINE gobots characters, who were "reformatted" into Ddecepticons and Autobots from Renegades and the good ones.

 

Im not off my head. Takara and Hasbro have the copyrights on the whole Gobots universe, but not the actual toy designs.

 

The bio for them said that although they were enemies as Gobots, and even now they are separate factions, they are a team now.

nice, like the new look for old Cy-Kill, take a look at this, I reformatted him from a wrecked Leader-1 figure, I added new wings and a Autobot symbot to his chest,

still named Leader-1 but is now a loyal soldier for the Autobot cause. what do you think?
