None of the usual online shops I use seem to have Energon Buildtron up for ordering, I guess cuz he's a TRU exclusive. Does anyone know if any stores are taking preorders, or is this something I'll have to Ebay?

Then again, if it costs much more than Bruticus/Superion, I may just settle for the US version...

i bellive www.digital-toys.com has it but im not 100% sure

All the gattai box sets retail the same, but just because they have the word "exclusive" on it makes third party retailers justify the higher mark up. That goes for many other exclusives also like the e-Hobby ones or mail-in exlcusives. They retail at the same price as their repaints, just exclusive to certain stores, magazine, what not. Whenever possible, buy directly from the source or find someone to do it for you. My friend in Japan is going to attempt to secure me a Buildtron so I will not have to pay the outrageous mark-up. Price will be the retail price + tax + shipping.

Prices:

Takara Version Box sets = MSRP 5,500 Yen + 5% Tax about $52.50

Hasbro USA Version (1 Deluxe + 4 Basics) = MSRP $9.99 + $6.99x4 = $37.95 + 8.25% Tax = $41.08 + waiting till 2005 for all to be released.

My philosophy is get whatever you want if you're willing to pay for it.

I was wondering about this as well, anybody know any sites?

I found this site when I was looking for pics of Buildtron:

*Chokes at prices*. Well, I knew there was an import markup on these guys, but didn't know it ended up amounting to that much.

And thanks, SU, I'll...consider it. Well, I am getting an Xmas bonus this year, I hope. Yeeks.
