G1/G2 Dinobot question...

Recommended Posts

I bought what I thought was a G1 Snarl a while back on Ebay. It is in great shape, with no chrome wear whatsoever, and only one loose joint, in the dino's left elbow. It was missing a rubsign, but otherwise in great shape. The other day, while showing my TF's to a friend, I noticed something surprising on the inside of the robot's foot... the word "Autobot" printed in green, with a G2 Autobot logo! I wasn't aware that they released any G2 figures with a G1 paint scheme, especially the Dinobots. I thought they were all green, or blue, or some outlandish colors. Anybody know any details? Is this a rare find, or just a common variation I wasn't aware of?

Nope...i came upon TFs as a G2er...remember it vividly- there were original gray colors in addition to the blues and greens. I have a blue grimlock, yet a gray one is shown on the back of the box.

yep, they did make some of the G2 dinos with G1 colors (wish I had em)

The first wave of the Dinobots in G2 were in the original G1 colors. Second wave had Grimlock in light blue, Snarl in green, and Slag in Red (which are the rarest variations I believe). The next wave after that had Grimlock in dark blue, Slag in green, and Snarl in red, which are the most common.

the line between g1 and g2 is slightly 'fuzzy' shall we say.

there were some g1 coloured dinobots in G2

and there are g2 coloured devestator models that are te4chnically g1 (i have one MIB - nowhere on the pack does it say G2)

dinobots rock :)

Well, I've got one of Snarl I'll trade for a G1, if it's in as good shape... lol. THanks for clearing it up, guys! - GZ

Yeah, I bought what someone was claiming to be a G1 snarl on Ebay, but when I got it, it had the G2 autobot symbol and print. They made more of the grey ones in the G2 line then they did the blue, green, and red remixes.
