Hi all

This is my first post, but i've been reading the forum for a while now. I've decided to attempt my first kitbash/repaint and make my own Sunstreaker. I've been building scale models for over 20 years now, so i feel confident I can create a pretty decent one. I've been really impressed with the various Sunstreakers everyone on this forum has made and I've decided to model using Dead End and Sideswipe parts. The only item of concern I have is removing the various pins used throughout the toys, particularly on the joints. I love the way Bodycounts Sunstreakers looks with the red shoulders, and I wanted to attempt that as well, but I can't figure out a way to safely remove the pins that attach the shoulders to the upper part of the torso where the head is attached like he did on his first Sunsteaker. I want to make sure when I re-attach the shoulder it will remain in place and still function properly.

I've attached a picture of Bodycount's first Sunstreaker, which Illustrates how he attached Sideswipes red shoulders to Dead End's upper torso to make his beautiful creation. (Bodycount, I hope you don't mind me using your picture).

Thanks everyone!

here ya go, man..I covered this to another board member a few days ago, so I'm gonna cut and paste the answer to ya:

Do you use a specific tool for taking out the rail-bars from TF toys. The rail-bars are the bars that go across between the legs.

Example -- G1 Brawl, Bluestreak, or Smokescreen -- the silver bar down below the knees.

I usually just use a pair of plyers or such, but that sometimes chips paint and/or leaves scratches. I wasn't sure if you had a good tool to use for this to suggest.

If you're talking about the metal pins they use, the trick is to figure out which side is the entry and which is the exit....the pins are inserted with a textured end last, and the smooth end first...Be sure to use an icepick or something similar and tap the end that you discover is the smooth one, as dragging the textured end through all of the jointed areas just won't work without alot of damage, or even breaking the pin itself...sometimes the best way to figure out which side is textured is to tap it out both directions. Usually the textured side will look a bit less neat, from the factory machines pounding it in place...Always tap the clean end...
