I'm lucky enough to be heading to Hong Kong (Kowloon), Tokyo (central) and New York (Manhattan) in the next couple of months and am interested to see if anyone can recommend any shops in any of those destinations. I'm interested in the G1 rereleases, Binaltech/Alternators, and second hand originals. This seemed like the place to ask.

Actually this is a good place to start, also try posting over at Remy's site, he might have more info on that since he is from Hong Kong.

Oh, if you're going to HK...well, you need to head over to Mong Kok on Nathan Road. There are tons of Japanese / TF toy shops. The one I went to is called What's Up Toy Outlet. It's on Sino Centre up on the 8th floor. That shop has the most decent price out of the whole building. The owner's name is Ben.

 

He hooked me up big time when I went to HK last Christmas. I wanted to buy Optimus Masterpiece, but he was out of stock. So I placed a deposit for one because he told me that he was recieving a shipment later that day before Christmas. A couple of hours later he called back and said it didn't come in. Then I told him that I really needed for Christmas, so he took it upon himself to head over to ship yard and pick one up for me. I told him "now that's customer service"...and I'm thinking dude this is Hong Kong we're talking about.

 

But do shop around for prices if you have time and try to bargain if you can. Have fun.

cheers J Jam, thats exactly the sort of info i'm looking for. i know nathan road, so that won't be a problem. time is the only real issue as i'm only going to be there for 5 days. but i'll track them down and see what i can get.

 

now, anyone know anything about tokyo or new york (other than the times square TRU)?
