G1 Starscream with FIRE...

Recommended Posts

This was initially just a sketch but I really liked the dramatic lighting and cleaned it up with tablet in photoshop. Unfortunately though, my weakness is proportions and I'm working to improve on them. Any tips...?

Your pretty.

the only proportion problem i see is the size of the head, however, i don't think it's "that big" of a problem. :tflaugh

the wings do look a little flat in comparison to the rest of his body but it still looks nice :thumb

Well thanks STPrime! After I finished working on it and looked back on it a couple of hours later, I saw the wing problem. :doh Also, you mentioned the head size. I used to draw them bigger but I've been making sure to slim them down...Primus knows Starscream doesn't need a bigger head than it already is. :dclol

Different proportions give different impressions as they bring to mind different body shapes.

The Starscream here has a slightly large head and thin shoulders/limbs, bringing to mind an older child or young teenager.

Look particularly into drawing/art references which cover superheroes (generic, not specific named heroes). You'll see that they modify the proportions to even greater extremes than normal adult humans - the heads are usually smaller, the legs are longer, the chests are broader (on males), the limbs are often wider and more muscular, and the torsos a little shorter.

That's interesting...I'm going to take a look into that and get a better scope on different proportions. Thanks! :tfgrin
