  1. Does anyone have websites or people that can track down parts. Or are able to design 3d models for printing?

I am personally looking for a part from the Transformers War for Cybertron Galactic Odyssey Collection Botropolis Rescue Mission Action Figure 6-Pack set. Specifically the truck's little rocket. No clue what happened to mine.

Since I'm not one to misplace parts or have much time to design the part or search the net being a full time worker and being a father. So I was hoping someone here might have an idea or lead.

I would be happy to pay someone for their troubles in 3d designing a replacement.

    Thanks

Here's a comparison with the Takara Masterpiece Star Saber, Takara God Ginrai, Victory Leo (KFC Simba), Takara Dai Atlas, Takara Shouki, Hasbro Studio Hot Rod, and Takara Blurr.

Here's another comparison with CW Ultra Magnus, T30 Springer and a few others.  I had some DC heroclix in the mix for a while:

Masterpiece Star Saber stands head to head with Combiner Wars Superion with the PE upgrade kit and Hasbro Siege Jetfire (aka Skyfire). Sorry I don't have a photo of that for you.

I backed Haslab Victory Saber but I don't have yet to compare.

  3. Was this even in stock?  I just went to the site and it's out of stock completely.  I just read your article in detail.  So it wasn't in stock.

Sigh, I'm one of the few that had a hasbro pulse premium membership (that got extended several weeks, so I didn't even realize that I still had it), and I had life get in the way of being online and on pulse during the hour that it was available to purchase.

As someone who has the original Nightbeat, and ranks it as one of my all time favorite figures, I'd really like to have this version of Minerva.

I really wish Hasbro made this more of a fun hobby, you know, maybe like list the figures and let them know that we want it, and maybe even do pre-orders far in advance, layaway payments, or full payments or something.  I would have put $25 down on Minerva months ago just to have it shipped to me and not deal with the retailer nonsense.

It seems like if it's not an Amazon exclusive then the figure is difficult to obtain, with the exception of this years Target exclusives.  Unless of course you are able to order off the 10% Hasbro Pulse store stock before it sells out.

    Sorry for venting.

  4. Here are my thoughts:

    Good Morning,

As a place to start: let me re)introduce myself.  I'm a 43 year old avid fan of the franchise.  I have a wife, kids, dog, cat, cars, mortgage and a good job/career that pays the bills and is fulfilling.  I have a hobby or 2 other than, say, collecting action figures or specifically transformers.  And honestly I think I'm slowly moving away from being a fan or more correctly moving toward other things in life.

So basic intro out of the way let's talk transformers.

I grew up watching cartoons and playing with toys in the 1980's.  And I didn't just love Transformers, I adored it.  There was nothing better to me than watching the second season with all the new settings and characters and the world building. It was wonderful, it was joy, it was phenomenal.  Sunstreaker was one of the few transformers I was lucky enough to have; Sideswipe looked cool and was one I desire but it wasn't until later in life that I'd get one.  Sunstreaker really cemented my love of the Lamborghini Countach design and to this day prefer Lamborghinis over other car designs.  I was even lucky enough to have Breakdown for a short time and I liked the clean and simple car design, maybe even more so than Sunstreaker.  Just reminiscing about it: it was arguably the most faithful Lamborghini Countach design of the initial Generations 1 run.

My fandom was so strong that  the existence of G2 made me happy and I could nostalgically enjoy the old cartoon again, revamped.  And I loved Beast Wars.   I got into collecting all the old toys I never had as a kid when I had income and have since collected just about some variant of all the characters from the first 3 seasons of the show plus 4th and beyond and much of Beast Wars.  And while my life is such that I don't have time to just play, I do enjoy looking at them on my shelf, I get a hit of dopamine, and I get a little energized.

    Now regarding the toys themselves:
I enjoyed how the toys could appear like completely different vehicles and even transform completely different but have the same function or even the same vehicle but different robot designs, for example: the original Dead End looked and transformed exactly like Breakdown but the cars looked so different as cars that to me they were different cars, and Sunstreaker and Sideswipe had similar alt modes but completely different transformations and robot modes.  I own both Sunstreaker and Sideswipe masterpiece and respectively earthrise and kingdom and I'm amazed at the attention to detail that took 2 very similar cars and through engineering and good design gave us faith robot designs that matched the show model more so than the original toys could (noting here that the show designs were derived from the toys, but since the cartoon was an advertisement to buy the toys, having things match would have been optimal)
Combiners were my favorite gimmick.  I liked how both Silverbolt and Scattershot were flying plane spaceship, things that looked completely different but could have the same function and they both worked well enough.  And this was a disappointment with the combiner wars designs.  One thing I loved about the designs as a kid was not recreated: instead of selling/creating a Scattershot with a completely different design then Silverbolt they gave us the same basic toy with a new wing, plane nose, and head shape.  I had the original g1 designs of both back in the 1980's, and Scattershot was such a solid amazing toy and probably a better overall toy than Silverbolt.  And while the CW Silverbolt was an upgrade to the G1 in almost every way the CW Scattershot was not, so much was lost like the turret mode and the nose gun function, not to mention a unique blaster design was not included and they just used a repainted Silverbolt blaster.  But, since Scattershot came with the entire Computron set, he became a small piece of a greater whole, and as a piece of Computron he was amazing in that respect.

This new Legacy Breakdown is giving me the same feeling I had with the CW Silverbolt and Scattershot, but maybe even more so.  He has a disappointing alt mode, he isn't really a representation of a Lamborghini Countach, which I'll reiterate is one my if not my favorite car designs.  And if the rest of the Stunticons were similar and stylized it wouldn't be as much of a thing.  But the rest of the Stunticons are faithful to the original toy/show designs.  So why did Breakdown not get his alt mode, why is it a glorified repaint of Wild Rider's Ferrari?   And really does it matter why?  In the big scheme of things it doesn't matter, this is just a toy, and piece of interjoined plastics that's supposed to be fun to play with and look at.  But, in that same sense, it's a toy and it's supposed to represent something, and in this case it is supposed to represent and be derived from a Transformers character called Breakdown: a design and character that's a living robot that turns into a car, and this character is made unique because it wasn't the same car as the others, the colors were different, as were the surface details.  These details provide value and a reason to buy it and the rest of the crew, otherwise, why not just buy duplicates of the others if they're a lower price to complete the combiner function?  A Lamborghini Countach was once called the Darth Vader or cars:  and it is such a popular design that Lamborghini just made an updated electric version.  I wanted another Lamborghini Countach robot that also completed the Stunticon set.  And based on the G1 historically faithful other Legacy Stunticons I was really looking forward to seeing this design and picking it up as soon as it was available.  In fact, at the time of this writing I have Drag Strip and Wild Rider, the latter of which I scoured the internet and stumbled across a store that had it available, and I purchased it there despite a $5 up charge for shipping.  So it does matter what alt mode Breakdown has, it matters to me and if it matters to me, then it probably matters to someone else.  When doing any task it should be completed well and in this task of designing and creating Breakdown, Hasbro did a poor job.  And it's not just disappointing because of this ideal I have.  It's disappointing because I have purchased 3 of 5 and I want the fourth one as well.  5 of 5 to me wasn't just completing a set, I wanted the whole package: the white and blue Robot Lamborghini that becomes a leg of a bigger robot named Menasor.  And while this Legacy Breakdown has most of that it's only 75% of what it should be:  I'd be ok with 90%, but now instead of getting Breakdown because I want Breakdown, I'm getting a piece of Menasor: so as an individual toy, Legacy Breakdown is less then it should be, but as a piece of a greater whole, maybe it'll be excellent?

I really feel like that because this is the last toy of the set that they skimped, and cut corners.  And empathically the company may have had logical reasons or even needed to cut corners, but really I can't buy that as an excuse.  WIth all the love and obvious effort on the rest of the Stunticons this one stands out as not matching the original toy.  People are going to buy it regardless because they want to finish what they started.  But many people, including me, won't be ok with the design. This has caused me to reevaluate future team purchases.   And more than that:  I've been considering investing in Hasbro as a company and to me this screams as a tactical move to maximize profit instead of making the hard and right choice of giving the customer what they wanted.  And at the end of the day, the customer is right, the customer is always right, because the customer is buying the product and service.  And I feel like this move will reduce costumer'. Hasbro did a big thing and while it started well, it ended badly.  And I will remember that.

My last thought on this is:
It seems coincidentally relevant that the toy name is "Breakdown".

And here's a few phots that show off my love of Lambos and combiners.  Putting my money where my mouth is so to speak

  5. I'm starting to wonder why HasTak doesn't include more accessories.  The G1, G2, and Beast Wars came with a ridiculous amount of extras.   Yet the generations line (which is derived on the old lines and based in nostalgia) has skimped on that with CW and onwards.

Maybe in 10 years they'll have figured out how to get everything "right":  And sell set of scramble city style Sunticons (individually and a combined boxed set) that look like the best representations of both toy and cartoon with all the accessories from the G1 toys and the show and as a bonus: the CW melee weapons to boot.

  6. Thank you guys.

Looking at that photo makes me miss my Dead End gun.  It's weird how recognizable it still is to me, even after 35 years.

I have another challenge for you 🙂  A question really:  Has anyone found a similar upgrade kit for the Technobots?  I have the CW crew and I would like to have upgraded weapons for the individual bots.  I'd specifically like the 3 guns Lightspeed comes with:  I have the original Lightspeed complete and having the newer version decked out with a similar arsenal would be nice.  I suppose I could just give him the 3 guns that came in the set instead, but that just won't be my style.

Yeah, we've been together for twenty years now, and it's give and take, I support her interest and she she supports mine. We watch the Patriots on Sunday, and I watch musicals like Hello Dolly. I'd do anything for her and she does anything for me.

That's really nice.  Kuddos to you.  If only more married people were like that, the world would be better.

Yeah, they aren't up on ebay right now, I checked, but they come and go and the next time I see them, I'll send you a link. I'll also post a pic of the ones I bought to give you an idea of what they look like.  Great episode. Trans-Europe Express! Just watched it a few weeks ago. That just added to the lore of the Stunticons, how they trashed the the Autobots in that episode and really set themselves up as the formidable rivals they are! Dead End is great, But I love Wildrider!

Thank you.  I'll keep my eyes open.  Last I checked they were on TFstudio.com too.  That's where I purchased my Sunstreaker, and Ark upgrade kits.  And It's where I found the Aerialbot hand weapons as well.

There's a few upgrade kits on Amazon too:  a Menasor gun was available (there was a version of that on ebay too).

I tell you what, a person can go poor on upgrade kits alone.  Most of my CW combiners have upgrades, and I don't even want to calculate the cost, but they do look good.

I was at work and the wife surprised me and bought them from KMart online for like $15 a piece I think. They are still SMIB in a rubber-maid until I move. She also got me one of those limited number, Walmart Gigawatts when I was at work, too.

You are a lucky individual.  Not all wives are that cool or helpful.  (collecting)

They're great! I bought them off ebay and am looking for a picture to post when I find one, but they are spot on to G1 and really make these Stunticons look legit.

You're making me want to buy them now....I have a softspot for specifically Dead End as he was one of my first Transformers back in the day, and he was one of the few Transformers that I lost the weapons to.  And sure, with the rest of the stunticons it makes sense for them to have melee weapons, but Dead End just seems to be a guy that would be fine standing back and using his gun:  reference: Trans-Europe Express...poor Sunstreaker (and Sideswipe) 😞 !!

I have the  Matrix Workshop M-31 Upgrade Kit Jet pack. IDK if it could be adapted to Sideswipe somehow.

Thanks, I only collect Optimus Primes and have the G2 Motormaster figure as well. Stay tuned to the Daily Prime!

Thanks for the heads up.  I was tempted to pick that jet pack for Sideswipe but I wasn't sure it'd work.  Fun fact the Rocket Pack that comes with the KBB MP-10V (Not Optimus) sort of fits perfectly on siege Sideswipe: I haven't yet tried it on Kingdom.

Cool photo btw:  that's quite the talent and the eye.

And speaking of the MP-10V, have you seen that?  I picked it up years ago when I was looking for a good voyager sized Optimus.  It's a pretty amazing shrunk down MP-10.  I have the trailer and everything.  It's basically the reason I haven't purchased a siege or kingdom Optimus, it's just so good.  There's a few flaws but I'm overall happy with it and all its accessories.  And even though it's not Hasbro/Takara I highly recommend it to anyone that likes Optimus Prime figures.  The KBB MP10V is one of those third party figures that beat Hasbro/Takara to the market (I try not to pick up third party otherwise).

Can't wait for the G2 Stunticon photos!

  12. And photos.  If you ever want some TF photos let me know.  Or if you have any requests I might have some interesting items.

Example:  I have both the G2 boxed set of the Stunticons and the CW versions.  And I know they look great with RID Scourge.  And by great I mean that the G2 colors makes the crew look just that much extra crazy.  Sometimes I miss the '90's with the bold colors and "let's try everything" mentality and ability.

I am seeing Brake-Neck for around $100+, way too high for my tastes this late in the game.

YUP! I am steaming mad about the Centurion Drone short supply and subsequent scalper prices. Oh well, there are 100s of other things to buy and I will live without these things.

I feel the same way about the Drone too.  But the one thing that really bugs me about not having it is the jet back.  I really want one for my Kingdom Sideswipe.  I've been looking for a good alternative to it: I have the black-version Sixgun and was cool with using that with siege Sideswipe, but when I tried to transfer it to the kingdom I found the connection to be very loose.  So now I'm on the lookout for a reasonable drone or a third party rocket pack.

And what is it with those scalpers anyway.  I conceptually understand the concept of supply and demand but wow: $100+ for something that should cost $20-$30, upwards of 5 times the cost is just crazy, to me.  Maybe Break-Neck will go down in price after the Legacy Wildrider is shown, or around the time the whole team is.  Hopefully you can get one for a good price when the demand goes down.  Sometimes I wonder why Hasbro doesn't do more re-issues.

  14. Hey,

Thanks for that (I can't watch it at the moment). I don't see X-9  in the photo though.  Were you able to do a comparison with X-9 and the original G1?

There are actually some differences between the G1 and this re-issue of it (more than the Decepticon sticker vs paint).

Would you be interested at all at a lengthy (personal) review (that I have yet to post anywhere)?

Also the only Ravages I have are G1, X-9, Siege, and Decepticons Forever pack.  I skipped a lot because once I got X-9 I was really happy with it.  My siege Soundwave needed a Ravage, obviously.  (and I skipped the MP, although that might have been a mistake)

I'd love to have Break-Neck but it was hella hard to find. They are going for crazy prices on Ebay now. If anyone has one to sell for a sane price, LMK.

I came late-ish to the CW party and picked up both Break-Neck and Quickslinger for higher than deluxe prices, what I think is sane may not be what you think is sane.  What's a price range that you could live with?

Another example would be the centurion drone:  I'd be willing to pay double the retail.  But over tripple is too much.

Another example for me would be Superion and the Aerialbots, I already mentioned Quickslinger, but I also got the Superion upgrade kits because Superion has to have white feet and hands...just has to, and the chest update looks nice.  But I also got the individual G1 robot guns: and those are interesting because I have left the Aerialbots in Superion form since I've had all 7 Aerialbots.  I've just figured out ways to place the individual guns on to Superon in interesting ways.  So the little guns, just to have them was worth it to me.  I got all those guns and upgrades because the Aerialbots are worth it to me.

And if you think that's something, you should see my ER Suntreaker 🙂

Yes, I didn't like the Combiner Wars weapons.

To each their own.  Although you make a good point, what's up with the melee weapons?  Bringing a pipe to a gun fight just seems a little unwise and maybe crazy.  That said it probably fits Wild Riders personality: and really all their personalities and they way they framed the Stunticon combat tactic of ramming the autobots in vehicle mode.

That FF8 style gunblade that came with Breakdown/Sunstreaker/Wheeljack ect. was just so much fun.

@God Sunstreaker Because Hasbro - explained here.

Sure right,  What I was curious more about was wondering, artist to artist, where the Break-Neck / Wild Rider wonderfulness was? Also showing the 7 bot Stunticon team gives a possible bonus to the CW concept: pushing the theory that there are things about CW that give it benefits over what the Legacy version may include.  Maybe it's just a person preference thing, but I've fan moded a way to combine all 7 Stunticons in to Mensor, keeping the total team together is my thing.

Also, if you don't have the Break-Neck / Wild Rider "wonderfulness" I'd highly suggest picking one up someday. 🙂

  18. Nice photo, the execution looks great.

I was just curious.  Any reason that "Wild Rider" was left out of the family photo?  And what's with the weapon swapping, is it just a preference thing?

I'm pumped about Legacy Stunticons coming out, but, while I loathe the Menasor, I still kind of like this team for CW. I got all of the upgrades, from new guns based off G1 for each Stunticon, to cannons for their alt. modes, and everything else. It's still an okay set, in my eyes.

Also, how are the G1 style guns; do they work well: are they sized nicely and fit will into the hands, do they look good?
