  1. When I first got into collecting Armada Thundercracker was the first figure I bought. I later found out that on the show, this toy was just Starscream's powered up mode. When I heard Takara was going to release the new Generations Armada Starscream in it's powered up color scheme, I had to have it. This is the same mold as the Generations version, right down to the pressure launchers. If you're a fan of the series, or have a connection to the original toy, pick this up.
  2. Ironhide is a great figure, and a testament to Takara's design ingenuity. Remember, Ironhide's traditional robot mode was created for the G1 cartoon and not based on the toy, so Takara had to find a way to combine that design with the established vehicle mode, no small feet there. The accessories are fantastic, hearkening back to the earlier Masterpiece figures; if Ironhide used it in the cartoon, it's probably here. Highest recommendation.
  3. Grimlock is a solid figure, a shrunk down version of the Warrior version; but with better elbows. The armor integrates well, especially in dino mode. I think it really plays off the exaggerated, almost comical look of Grimlock. Anvil is OK. It's sorta round, and the transformation works? Really not much to say about that guy. Buy this set for Grimlock and you won't be disappointed.
  4. Those of us who have been around for awhile know that when Hasbro introduces a new line, the first wave or so really isn't indicative of the overall series. Such is the case with the Minicon Battle Packs. Bumblebee is a smaller, pocket sized version of the Warrior Class figure, with a few additional ball joints. The armor comes together nicely both in the combined weapon mode, and attached to bumblebee. Major Mayhem is a cool name but these new Minicons just don't do it for me.
  5. his took longer than expected. For whatever reason Windblade is a hard to find figure, and unfortunately not really worth the effort of a hunt. Yes it's a Legion toy, but it's missing the spark that a figure like Thunderhoof has that makes it feel a little more dynamic. Transformation is solid, and both modes are far more stable than the Deluxe figure, but the current market price is way more than what the toy is worth. Hopefully Windblade and the rest of the wave will reach retail saturation soon.
  6. Quillfire is an interesting figure. I'm not sure if I 100% like it due to a few nagging issues with the head, and wrists. The figure compacts even more for transformation becoming a really nice off-road type vehicle. If you're looking to complete the RID line I can give it a solid recommendation, other wise you might want to think about it a bit.
  7. After roughly a year we're finally getting a steady trickle of Decepticons in the Robots In Disguise line. I think out of all the Decepticons Thunderhoof pulls off the animal/robot hybrid. My one complaint is the shoulders are kinda hard to work with, but you can pull off dynamic poses. I really can't say one way or another if this is a must buy.
  8. While I like the idea Takara has about only having ONE Optimus Prime figure in the Adventure line (outside of the simplified figures) I'm not sure this was the right way to go. Sure it's big with lights and sounds, but the plastic is thin, I mean really thin. There are some points during transformation that I feel panels can break. The included weapons on paper seem cool, until you realize just how warped they are out of package. The retool of this into Supreme mode Prime is a better option.
  9. After the disapointment of Warrior Sideswipe I, and many other collectors, were hoping for a better version of the character. Hasbro must have heard us as this Decepticon Hunter version is fantastic. If I were to have one complaint, it's that the figure doesn't come with a proper sword, instead the main weapon is a mace. Armored up the figure looks really good, and the combined weapon holds together better than Prime's. All in all, a solid buy.

  11. I've always been a fan of the Commander Class of figures, and was delighted when Hasbro showed off these battle packs in late 2015. Prime is basically a scaled up version of the Legion figure, with the addition of elbows, knees, and a swivel head. The hands are better represented than on the Warrior Class figure. Bludgeon is well, Bludgeon; a non articulated, auto-morphing, ball of doom, not much to see there. The armor looks good, but it's a crime that you're not able to transform Prime with it on. All in all a solid figure.
  12. Leave it to Takara to go all out on the Granddaddy of Transformer Combiners. New knees, new elbows, and a set of G1 weapons makes this version of Devastator the best ever. This isn't the Devastator we need, it's the one we deserve, and need.
  13. While Takara did repaint two existing molds giving the figures new heads, for the Superion and Menasor gift sets, no one expected them to create an entirely new mold for Defensor. Well that's just what they did and Groove is a near perfect update of the G1 character. The transformation is simple yet effective, utilizing the same leg transformation as the Aerialbots. Hopefully Hasbro releases this figure domestically for collectors on a budget.
  14. Depending on how you count mold uses, this is either the 4th or 5th use of the Generations Legends Optimus Prime mold. You now have you selection of colors and two heads, if you haven't been buying them all along like I have. Pipes is has the tightest joints thus far, which is a good thing, and I do like the color blue, another plus. In the end it all comes down to whether or not you want another Legends sized truck sitting on your desk.
