So, I got the Ultra Magnus that I ordered from BBTS. The information provided in this news is incorrect. Ultra Magnus has the short smokestacks and long missiles. The copyright does say 2012, so it's not an old release.

G1 Chromedome does have two scoped rifles and is the only Headmaster, of the original larger ones, that has four wheels. That's a strong possibility. I pre-ordered one.

I just got mine. TFSource/FansProject have included a little bonus, guns for the regular Insecticons. The set itself comes with three guns for the Armored Battalion set too.

C9. I open them anyway, plus there's no telling what might happen to box once I have it, so there's not much point in getting a "mint" box.

I suspect that TRU MP Optimus Prime got to keep the long stacks because the stacks are designed to move up and down.

JMO, but its one of the better combining Prime toys. His super mode is pretty cool in my book. :bounce The arms sticking out behind the truck cab are unforgivable, as is the gut in robot mode, not to mention the Power Rangersesque nature of the super mode.

Ooh, neat. I got the Japanese reissue years ago, but I'll buy this one, now that I know it's got the proper smokestacks and missiles. It's Christmas 1986 all over again, only this time the wheels are rubber and Ultra Magnus' face is painted.

Very nice. It's just what I expect, G1, but with more articulation, nothing more, nothing less.

The TRU release does have the normal smokestacks. I know, that's the whole crux of my observation.

Just a thought about the smokestacks. I think Hasbro might have been able to use the normal smokestacks on this MP Optimus Prime because they're adjustable. They can be pushed down. I assume that this lack of resistance to pressure applied from the tip makes them meet safety standards.
