  1. As usual I thought John did an excellent job with his writing, especially given the complexity of what he was trying to get across. And I do agree with you, the art style was hard to follow. But personally I'm not a fan of Livio's work anyway. I like the style, but not for story telling. It reminds me of fan art; single frames look great, but when trying to move a story forward, it lacks real detail and progress. It's great for covers. Most of the work I see of his is muddied and blurred, with almost no background detail so you can't get a good feel for the surroundings or context. For an entire story, it becomes very difficult to follow when all you see are close ups of heads, glowing eyes or arms reaching for something. I know a lot of people like his style, but for me, it hinders the story and forces the writing to carry more of a load, instead of the art and writing working together to tell a great story.

  2. Is it just me or have the last few episodes of Prime been the best ever in any TF media because of A) Zero human involvement B) absolutely stellar writing C) a series-wide refocus on reinventing the mythology of the Transformers with new referrences to virtually all past media, or D) All of the above.

I say D) all of the above..

I've been thinking the same thing too! And for the exact reasons you mentioned. I don't mind the kids, but it definitely seems better without them, although I do wish they'd explain where Jack & Miko were (we know Raf is being "relocated"). But the last few episodes have been incredible!

  3. You know, I'm honestly not sure how I feel about these yet. I love the BB bow (and armed to the teeth, no pun intended) and his new helmet actually looks decent. The rest of them, I've got mixed feelings on. Depending on the show will depend on what I think of these, but I can almost promise kids are going to go nuts for these. Showed them to my 10yr old niece and she loves them already. Plus I've gotta admit, making Ravage to fit SW's chest is pretty good.

Ravage turns into the weapon on Soundwave's arm in robot mode, and into his.... dong(?).... in jet mode, not his chest piece

I dunno man, it sure looks like Ravage is taking the place of Laserbeak on his chest. The weapon I think is just a stand alone weapon. Look at the silver on Ravage's back, it matches up with the silver on SW's chest, then the legs fold over his ribs and shoulders.

  5. Also, did anyone notice the suggested retail price for ALL the deluxes? $11.99 :redface

Yes the MSRP is still just "Suggested" based on whatever numbers Hasbro crunches to say "this price would be profitable to you." MSRPs is one way for Hasbro to "sell" product to distributors. If the actual price the stores are charging is way above the MSRP, its because the retailer is not seeing a big enough return on profits for that product, or may be a larger portion of their products, hence the price increase.

Oh believe me, I know all about how MSRP works. The surprising part is that this was their old MSRP, but during BotCon and SDCC they had it listed as $14.99 and now it's back down? But considering the Cyberverse Commander price ... Someone needs to better proof read their publications haha.

  6. Arachnid is a turd, but Dreadwing is what has broken my back. Jet hands AND the legs dragging on the groudn are just unacceptable.

I totally agree! We all know Arachnid blows. But I keep hearing how great Dreadwing is, and so I finally get him in hand, only to be extremely disappointed! His bot mode is pretty sweet and accurate, but his jet mode leaves a LOT to be desired, he feels like an old school sized deluxe. And his transformation, while pretty decent, feels overly complicated considering how much kibble there is in jet mode.

Gas here in Vegas went up $0.45 in about a week while CA was getting hammered. Our prices are luckily lower, but we did see a massive spike. And that alone has made me limit how often I go hunting vs ordering online when it's feasible. Then you add in the shrinking sizes, massively spiking prices (despite MSRP & online prices, including HTS being much lower) and once this years waves of preorders/wants is over with, I'm scaling back big time. Probably dropping all the main lines for retail and may focus entirely on MPs (those badboys are worth every dime to me!). I'm just not getting the same pleasure out of my mainline figures as I used to. (although I do have to admit, RiD Vehicon and FE Starscream are 2 of the coolest mainline figures I've ever purchased, so no regrets there!)

  7. Yeah other than Scout Sandstorm, I haven't seen any if the GDO's or FE yet. Luckily out of the GDO's I'm only really looking for Wheelie, and possibly Laserbeak & Springer. But as soon as they start showing up, I'll try and pick up what I can for people who are looking for something.

  8. Personally I say wait. With them re-releasing her you should be able to find her fairly easily. And if not, there will be alot more in the secondary market so her eBay prices will drop quite a bit.

  9. Been a while since I last posted here, but I am pleased as punch that nearly the entire run of G1/S1 Decepticons have gotten The Treatment. The newest batch of MP figures are nearly perfect, and have effectively made me stop collecting anything that is not G1 or MP. Everything else is inferior. Even with all the cool lines and cool toys we've seen over the years, MP is truly giving me what I have always wanted.****

MP has really raised their game since MP Grimlock and Rod Prime, and they seem to be raising it yet again. Which is really awesome/frightening. I am convinced that MP can do no wrong.

    (***eagerly awaiting MP Reflector.)

I agree, the MP line is absolutely beast right now! And with the massive increases in current lines, I'm on the edge of ending my collection (100% complete since A/E/C, and many pieces going farther back) just so I can focus on the MP line exclusively. Just saw a pic earlier for Wal-Mart showing all deluxes at $18.29! Are you serious?!? With the greatness that is the MP line, it is much more deserving of my money!!

  10. They're going to be a TRU store exclusive, but BBTS & Entertainment have shared exclusive rights for online sales as well. Supposedly the entertainment 2 pack (Prime, Megs & the kids) have started showing up already in TRU stores so it could be anytime.

As for which ones, I'm going to be looking for the 2 pack, voyager Prime and Deluxe Vehicon. I've already got the voyager Bulkhead, deluxe Starscream, Arcee and regular Cliffjumper and personally love them! Even though the RiD Arcee is a bit more screen accurate, her FE version is a really fun mold. The Bulkhead and Cliffjumper FE molds blow the RiD molds out of the water! Bulkhead especially is a great figure with a really fun and surprising transformation. You get a lot of bot of a deceivingly smaller truck. And FE Starscream is one of my favorite molds! I actually like that mold better than the voyager version. It's even more complex and accurate I think. Personally, I think all the FE are easily worth picking up! :)

  11. The police just called me, they found my wallet, murdered in a back alley....

I feel ya... Since last month, my wallet has been screaming in pain! MP TC, MP Prime, the GDOs, Prime First Editions, Prime Voyager UM/Thundertron wave on preorder, The Bruticus Case & wave 3 for FOC on preorder, G2 Bruticus, MP Soundwave on preorder ... I'm seriously going to need like 6 months off just to recoup by the end of the year. And that's not including the ones I want but are back burnered for right now (MP Sideswipe and Red Alert). Definitely time to re-evaluate spending habits and figure out WHICH lines I truly want to be totally into. These lil guys look awesome, and I preordered SW in the hopes of these cassettes kicking butt, and they sure haven't let me down! SW is my first MP preorder AND import, instead of waiting for the US, and this is why!

Shit, you're preorder/buy list is identical to mine. plus i have a fort max in there. I was lucky to score the 5 Bruticus figures from Fun Pub a few weeks back before they sold out. Was really dreading trying to track those guys down in the store since they're one per case and wave 1 is already piling up on the pegs.

These MP's a beautiful and bought on site!

Haha yeah I'm so tempted on Fort Max, but $350+ is a bigtime hit for me so for now I'm sleeping on it (and will most likely regret it later haha). I feel ya with Bruticus, honestly the hunt isn't nearly as fun for me as it used to be, but that's an entirely other topic. These MP's though, my god they're gorgeous! I just can't pass them up! They have really raised the bar lately!

  13. Yeah I wouldn't stress it, I can't see that information being accurate at all. There's no way they would do only 2 per store total. When TC got released here, people were being told there would only be 1 total shipment per store and some stores wouldn't receive any, and look how that turned out. Don't worry, as long as he's for sure going to Canada, you should have more than 2 per store.

  14. I'm hoping to see UM come out soon in the new scale, last post in the rumor mill I read said Takara was planning to create an entirely new, transformable trailer for this mold to be released as Ultra Magnus. Like I said that is above all still a rumor at this point though. Still would not complain at all if a new Megs and/or Galvatron made it into the mix for next year though.

I would love to see this be UM as long as he has a proper/ trailer armor! If it is him, I can die happy, my 3 favorite characters will have the MP treatment, got Grimlock, Soundwave is preordered and Magnus is the last of my trio!

  15. I've been reading these and haven't seen a hint of Unicron, and Primus has only been used to explain their origins, he hasn't shown up in any current day event. And while I agree the previous ongoing series was very lack luster (to say the least), the new ones are really good. RiD is pretty good, but the Mtmte book is hands down one of my favorite reads in the last few years, including non TF books. It has a large focus on smaller named characters, has a good story line and is downright hilarious at times. IDW has certainly done right with this one :)

  16. I'm by no means an expert, but I have some experience with this. As far as just touching another toy after touching the corrosion, you should be ok. If you touched liquid fluid, your first priority is going to be your safety since it can be extremely hazardous. Once it dries though and you get that crusty corrosion it's not nearly as bad and extremely unlikely to be transferred to another toy from your hands (although after touching the crust, it's still hazardous to you and I wouldn't reccomend liking your fingers or anything haha). If the corrosion was directly touching another piece, then there might be some transferrance, but it'll be minimal.

As for cleaning and permanent damage, it all depends on the type on the quality of plastic you're dealing with. A warm water & detergent mixture (like dish soap) should be able to clean most of it off. It may take a while, but nothing beats a bit of elbow grease and care. Use something too strong and you risk ruining the plastic. A firm bristle toothbrush will work good to help, and if you're dealing with metal, a small wire brush will work too, but will rip up plastics and scuff them really bad. If you're dealing with a tougher batch of corrosion that won't clean with warm water & detergent, check with an auto parts store, they usually have some solvents that clean battery corrosion, and some of them are safer for use on plastics then others, but you run a greater chance of plastic damage vs the water/detergent.

The most important thing to remember is that the corrosion is extremely dangerous to you so you should make sure to wear some rubber gloves or somethig while cleaning it and if you get any on you, wash it off. It's an acid and so water will dilute it dropping the hazard greatly.

  17. He's back up! But there's a catch ....

Some browsers aren't showing it. I checked with my phone (iPhone 4, iOS 5 using the full site, not their mobile site) and he didn't show up. But I heard he was still there, so I went to my desktop (Windows 7, IE8) and he shows up there, so I got my order in ...

If you're looking for him, and it's coming back as "No Results Found", use a different device or browser, because some people can only find it with their phones, which is the opposite of my issue ... and good luck!
